## Description

Ammunition Accountant Defence Location: Defence Academy, Shrivenham (Swindon), on site five days a week Full Time, Monday to Friday (8:00–16:00, Friday 8:00–15:30) £Competitive Band 7 Overview We’re looking for an Ammunition Accountant to join our Stores team at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, near Swindon, providing an efficient service for the receipt, issue and safe custody of ammunition for Academy units and the DTUS Squadrons we support. At its heart this is an organised, detail-driven administrative role. Instructors come to the stores for the rounds they need for weapon training and sign for them, and you record every movement accurately on the Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) system. If you’re methodical, comfortable working to strict regulations and take pride in getting the detail right, we’d like to hear from you. As part of this you’ll: Maintaining the ammunition account and ensuring compliance with storage regulations (JSP 482 – MOD Explosives Regulations) Coordinating the receipt, issue, control and accounting of all ammunition natures, applying approved accounting procedures Recording and maintaining ammunition account transactions on the Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) system Preparing ammunition compound bays, and the natures held in them, for weekly (25%) stock-taking checks Keeping holdings free from bans and constraints, with inspection reports (fire, security, electrical, lightning protection) in date Collecting and returning ammunition and explosive natures to and from the Ammunition Depot Providing cover in the Clothing Stores when required What you’ll need to do the role: You don’t need to arrive with every qualification, as full training is provided if you’re successful. What matters most is that you bring: Eligibility for SC clearance, which usually requires five years’ continuous UK residency A full UK driving licence Good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, and a flexible work ethic Basic MS Office skills, good communication skills and a customer-focused approach The ability to work on your own as well as part of a team Willingness to complete the required training: MOD Ammunition Storeman course, MJDI and Authorised Rep (Road) Desirable Experience of the MJDI system, or of accounting for ammunition or other stores inventory Military stores experience, or experience of working in a military environment Current SC clearance Experience of ammunition accounting or MJDI would be a real advantage, but it’s not essential. If you’re organised, accurate and eligible for SC clearance, we want to talk to you. Ex-service candidates are very welcome. Please note: there is no weekend work or on-call. A Serco uniform is worn at all times on duty, and the role may involve driving or travelling in MOD-provided vehicles.
