Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented technology lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling to commercial and public sector customers throughout the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, with a primary focus on supporting AWS sales in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing AI and IT infrastructure services, such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more to private and public sector customers. Key job responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and advising on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise customers, public sector customers, and partners, as well as providing legal support for local and regional services and initiatives. The role will also involve ongoing legal counsel and regulatory interpretation and guidance for senior executives and other business and legal team members on a variety of product development, operational, security, compliance, data protection and public policy matters. The role includes participating in other legal team projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing relationships and handling customer and business partner inquiries. We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoys being challenged, has strong technology and communication skills, and demonstrates sound, pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations. This position is based in Zurich, Switzerland. Some regional and international travel will be required. A day in the life You will be based in our Zurich office and support various teams within the AWS Sales & Marketing organization. You will be a legal and thought partner for the business on day-to-day matters as well as long-term strategic issues. You will own drafting, negotiating, and closing commercial agreements with enterprise customers, channel partners, marketing agencies, and technology vendors. You will pioneer AI-driven transformation of legal operations—improving contract review cycles, eliminating manual bottlenecks, and deploying advanced research tools that deliver insights in minutes instead of hours. Your innovations will multiply our legal function's impact, enabling faster decisions, consistency, and proactive risk mitigation that keeps us ahead of emerging challenges. Working directly with business colleagues, you will serve as lead counsel on strategic sales transactions, marketing campaigns, and partnership agreements while helping manage existing commercial relationships. You will also research, advise, and develop expertise on new go-to-market initiatives, advertising regulations, data privacy matters, and emerging legal issues that impact the business. About the team The Swiss AWS Legal team is part of the broader EMEA SMGS Legal organization and consists of lawyers supporting AWS's Swiss customer base across commercial and public sector engagements. The team also handles EMEA-wide workstreams, including leading the competition law matters across EMEA and co-leading global SMGS AI legal workstream. Work spans transactional, regulatory, and advisory support across multiple jurisdictions, requiring close collaboration with business stakeholders and legal colleagues throughout the region.
