The opportunity Open Systems is the area responsible for operating classic Linux and Unix server infrastructure - providing a secure, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective foundation that product and business owners depend on to run their applications, and that ultimately underpins the experience of the end customers. Open Systems is looking for a Chapter Lead to take full ownership of the Issuing & Acquiring chapter - a distributed team of 15 direct reports and 9 external subcontractors operating across 8 countries. You will be accountable for the operational stability of critical payment infrastructure spanning Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Luxembourg, while simultaneously steering the chapter through a period of real and necessary transformation. This is not a role for someone who waits to be told what to do. You will be expected to lead with initiative, navigate complexity with resilience, and make decisions that matter - for your team, for operations, and for the business. Where decisions extend beyond chapter scope, you align at area level. Everything within your chapter is yours to drive. Day-to-day responsibilities If you are at your best when the stakes are real and ownership is genuine, this role was built for you. You will lead infrastructure that keeps critical payment services running across multiple countries. You will have real decision-making authority within your chapter, meaningful visibility at senior level, and the opportunity to shape - not just maintain - the way your team operates. The challenge is real. So is the impact. People Leadership Lead, develop, and retain a diverse chapter of direct reports - internal staff and GCC colleagues - while effectively coordinating with external subcontractors across multiple countries and time zones Keep the team focused, motivated, and growing, even under sustained operational pressure and resource constraints Address skill and knowledge gaps proactively, with particular attention to legacy and non-standard technologies where turnover risk is highest Represent the chapter in management forums, cross-area discussions, steering committees, and interactions with internal clients and business stakeholders such as product owners and business units Operational Ownership Ensure operational stability across a heterogeneous, geographically distributed server infrastructure Manage and continuously improve on-call coverage across all relevant countries, resolving staffing and expertise gaps with pragmatic, sustainable solutions Drive vulnerability management and automated patching rollout across all infrastructure within chapter scope Maintain day-to-day service delivery while systematically reducing inherited technical debt Own chapter budget planning and resource allocation, ensuring spend is justified, tracked, and aligned with operational priorities Standardization & Continuous Improvement Lead the elimination of non-standard hardware, operating systems, tools, and licenses in favor of area-aligned standard solutions Translate corporate and area-level programs into concrete, meaningful actions at chapter level Continuously identify and act on opportunities to improve team organization, processes, and efficiency - not when asked, but because it is the right thing to do Who are we looking for You take charge.
