We are looking for a talented lawyer to join our legal team based in Sydney, Australia (remote work from other cities or regions is not available) to support our rapidly growing and evolving business Key job responsibilities Responsibilities will include advising on new and mature technology-driven offerings, counselling business teams on a wide range of matters, negotiating strategic contracts, and working with other members of the legal department locally and internationally to ensure that relevant legal and regulatory requirements and risks are understood and managed. Principal duties include providing ongoing legal advice on a wide range of legal areas including in relation to competition and consumer law, privacy and data protection, advertising technology and other regulatory requirements. A day in the life You must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged. The ability to effectively communicate complex matters, both verbally and in writing, is also essential. You will be expected to work independently while also contributing successfully to cross-functional teams. You will work in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing, and will need to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Basic qualifications - 5+ years of legal experience - Law degree and admission to relevant bar association - Experience in top tier Australian private practice or in-house experience - Strong communication skills (verbal, written, oral) Preferred qualifications - Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work - Experience in consumer law, privacy and data protection, or advertising technology - Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines Acknowledgement of country: In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
