EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW The Design Engineer will undertake and support feasibility evaluation / technical assessments for projects and create designs for Water Treatment plants that will serve our 10 million customers across the Midlands leaving a true legacy in the community. You will be required to support in evaluating engineering designs produced by our in-house designers and through consultant design teams. Working with experienced Senior and Principle Design Engineers, we encourage you to grow your own skills and support others. The role covers sites across the Midlands and can be based in any one of our three regional hubs - Finham (Coventry), Raynesway (Derby) or Shelton (Shropshire). Help us to deliver the best solutions for getting water into supply by driving innovative, best in class outputs with a focus on sustainability and quality. Our solutions need to meet the challenges of today and look forward to the demands of producing a clean water supply for millions of people in an ever changing climate. Each day will be different as you develop process designs across the full project lifecycle. From project conception through to commissioning, you will be ensuring process designs are safe, efficient, operable and aligned with our customers’ needs. LET’S TELL YOU MORE Support the development of process solutions for clean water treatment facilities, including new build, upgrade and refurbishment projects. Undertake process design activities from concept through detailed design and commissioning support. Undertake process calculations, design reports, mass balances, hydraulic profiles, P&IDs, process flow diagrams and technical specifications. Support in the assurance and control of third-party designs to meet the requirements of our customers and regulators. Evaluate and support emerging technologies and innovative treatment solutions to improve performance, resilience, sustainability and carbon reduction. Ensure and contribute to Process safety management HAZOP , SWIFT, LOPA and ALM Ensure the delivered solution is reviewed, benefit appraised, and learnings are captured and shared with appropriate design standard bodies (and learnings embedded). Support the design team so that the best solution is delivered (and commissioned) to the agreed, contracted design specification. Proactively drive the project risk management and ensure risk registers are maintained throughout the entire design process. Provide Expert support to the wider design team to ensure they can deliver to the highest future standards. Use your Engineering excellence to develop our standardised designs. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE You will come equipped with design experience and a desire to create innovative and efficient solutions for the challenges facing Water Treatment. You will need to be confident engaging with stakeholders in all areas and levels of the business to get the designs right. A strong relationship builder who can influence at all levels of the business. You will have a degree in civil engineering demonstrating your professional commitment as a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status, a journey which we are keen to support you on.
