About the Role We’re looking for a Financial Crimes Associate to join our growing Financial Crimes team. In this role, you will focus on real-time management of alerts and escalations of potential suspicious incidents to combat fraud and resolve potential money laundering issues. Working closely with investigators, you will review escalations from other business lines and determine whether fraud may be occurring. You will review customer applications for onboarding and alerts generated from our transaction monitoring systems for both traditional and crypto products, with a focus on fraud detection, mitigation, and loss prevention across lending and banking products. Candidates may also be trained in assessing transaction monitoring alerts for potential suspicious activity as it relates to anti-money laundering requirements. The ideal candidate will seek the optimal balance between customer experience and fraud prevention, and maintain that balance as the business grows and fraud trends evolve. You will apply analytical and problem-solving skills to identify fraud trends, assess incidents in near real-time, and potentially propose efficiencies and solutions to management. What You’ll Do Assist in the administration of the Bank Secrecy Act and Fraud Program, with primary emphasis on transaction monitoring, fraud incidents, and supporting Figure’s obligations under federal law and regulations governing the reporting of suspicious or criminal activity, including money laundering, potential terrorist financing, fraudulently obtained loans, and other activity related to banking and lending. Monitor assigned operational tasks and identify fraud; minimize loss by taking action and escalating incidents to management as appropriate. Deploy mitigation strategies, as directed, that balance customer satisfaction with fraud prevention. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to bank secrecy and anti-money laundering appropriate to the position. Evaluate customer transactions and applications using manual and automated processes for evidence of fraud and BSA-targeted acts. Escalate incidents and cases to ensure SARs and Elder/Financial Abuse reports are filed within federal timeframes. Maintain compliance with Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Elder/Dependent Abuse requirements. Assist in transaction monitoring and in the administration and mitigation of alerts. Adhere to all company security policies and data handling procedures, and complete mandatory security awareness training within required timeframes. Promptly report any suspected security incidents or suspicious activity to the Security team.
