This role will be carried out on-site at our Leek Depot (ST13 7AB) and around Staffordshire. What will the role offer? Working at Amey puts you at the centre of an inspiring expert team. You will have opportunities to work with our Staffordshire County Council team, playing a vital part in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our road networks. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, your responsibilities will include routine and cyclic maintenance, minor civil works, litter collection, and winter maintenance, all of which are essential for the wellbeing of the community and the environment. The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week We offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns. What you will be doing : Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance. Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills. Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance. Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system. Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers. What you'll bring: Experience in roads and/or street works Hold a full UK driving licence. (desirable) Class 2 HGV (desirable) We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.
