## Description

Annapurna Labs is the team behind the custom silicon and systems at the heart of AWS (Amazon Web Services) infrastructure — we operate like a start-up with the scale of the world's largest cloud provider. Our Nitro Cards ("K2") are present in each and every server deployed at AWS, continuously innovating across new technologies, new server platforms, and new cloud services. Nitro Cards serves critical roles in the server control plane and data path — delivering better performance, greater stability, and higher availability to customers at a global scale. We work closely with the Nitro Silicon and Nitro Firmware and Software teams across definition, development, and mass production to optimize product value and accelerate time-to-market. We learn from large-scale production health data and feed those insights back to continuously improve our products and processes. Our success depends on world-class designs and the ability to deliver them on time, at scale, and with the best possible value for our customers — handling massive scale and the rapid integration of emerging technologies. We are looking for a HW Lead Engineer to help define, shape, and integrate cutting-edge solutions for the next generation of our cloud platforms. As a Card Lead Engineer in the Nitro/K2 team you will be responsible for defining Annapurna Labs’ Network Interface Card (NIC) hardware for the Compute a storage servers type, owning the development and validation of Nitro cards, including readiness for mass production. You’ll provide leadership in new technologies of the HW interfaces, bringing them to large-scale deployment, in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with technical experts, senior leaders, and multiple areas of technology. Key job responsibilities - Own the design and sustain of the Nitro Smart Network Interface Card for CMRI vertical use cases. - Work with joint design partners and manufacturing sites, to enable healthy mass production of the Nitro card. - Review, identify, and qualify second-source electrical components, to enable continuity of supply. - Analyze and debug design/manufacturing/integration issues. - Continuously assess process capabilities and innovate to simplify processes, reduce costs, and shorten the time cycle of Nitro cards’ development and manufacturing. - Collaborate with members of cross-functional teams, to gain knowledge and improve product design, processes, and quality. - Work with customers, to optimize the entire value stream and put together joint processes that will lead to improved time cycle and lower costs. - Willing to travel abroad one or two times a year, for a week at a time. Basic qualifications - B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or in related field. - At least 8 years' experience leading hardware products from design to mass production: life cycle, components selection, schematics, layout, thermal, mechanical design, review, hardware-software interfaces, and production testing. - At least 6 years’ experience in high-speed board design and practical hardware lab. - Design/lab experience with at least at one of the following interfaces: DDR , PCIe , Practical experience with high-speed lab equipment. Preferred qualifications - Experience with mass production products. - Experience with Networking/Storage/Linux. - Knowledge and understanding of HW PCB architecture and design. - Experience with CPLD/FPGA coding and simulation. - Technical leadership, Matrix work with multiple teams. - Practical experience writing scripts.
