About the Role As Team Lead for Engineering & Construction (E&C) and Energy Operations, you will be at the heart of a fast-moving, high-impact specialty portfolio. You'll lead a talented team of Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals, partnering closely with Underwriting leaders to deliver outstanding service, operational precision, and continuous improvement. This is not just an operations role — it's a leadership opportunity to shape culture, champion transformation, and drive meaningful change across a complex and exciting business portfolio. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Talent Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of Underwriting Assistants and Operations professionals. Create a high-performing, collaborative, and customer-focused team culture. Conduct performance management, career development, succession planning, and workforce planning activities. Drive employee engagement through regular coaching, feedback, and development discussions. Ensure appropriate workload balancing and resource allocation across the team. Service Delivery & Operational Excellence Oversee execution of all post-underwriting operational activities across the Engineering & Construction portfolio. Ensure timely and accurate processing of binders, endorsements, policy issuance, renewals, cancellations, and invoicing activities. Monitor service levels, quality metrics, productivity measures, and operational KPIs. Identify and remove operational bottlenecks while improving end-to-end workflow efficiency. Maintain business continuity and proactively address capacity risks. Business Partnership Partner closely with Underwriters and business leaders to support portfolio growth and operational priorities. Develop strong relationships with brokers, underwriting teams, claims, compliance, finance, legal, and technology partners. Provide operational insight and recommendations to improve customer and broker experience. Support implementation of strategic business initiatives and portfolio growth objectives. Risk, Controls & Audit Readiness Ensure operational activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and underwriting guidelines. Own audit readiness, documentation quality, evidence collection, and control execution. Monitor operational risks and implement corrective actions as needed. Escalate issues early and drive resolution plans to minimize business impact. Maintain strong data quality and operational governance practices. Transformation & Continuous Improvement Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service quality, and controls. Champion technology enablement, AI adoption, automation opportunities, and workflow modernization. Support SOP governance, employee training, change management, and readiness activities. Contribute to future-state operating model initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.
