This position reports to: R&D Team Lead __ Your role and responsibilities At ABB Process Automation, we are transforming the way operators interact with industrial systems through modern software, advanced analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. We are looking for a passionate Full Stack Software Developer Intern to join our Research & Development team in Genova and contribute to the next generation of web-based industrial applications. As part of an international R&D organization, you will work on real software products used worldwide, helping design and implement modern user interfaces, cloud-connected services, and AI-powered capabilities for our Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms. This internship is ideal for students interested in Frontend Development, Full Stack Engineering and Generative AI who want to apply their skills to real-world products operating in critical industrial environments. The work model for the role is: hybrid You will be mainly accountable for: Design and develop modern web applications for industrial automation systems. Create responsive and intuitive user experiences using modern frontend technologies and frameworks. Collaborate with software architects, UX designers, and backend developers to build scalable full-stack solutions. Develop and integrate APIs and backend services using modern development practices. Explore and prototype AI-powered features leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies. Work with tools and technologies such as TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, .NET, Docker, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Copilot, and CI/CD pipelines. Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment. Qualifications for the role Education: a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Technical Skills: knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript, React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML5 and CSS3. Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and Git version control. Knowledge of C# and .NET is a plus. Knowledge of docker and containerized applications, Cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code is a plus. Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning or Generative AI projects is a plus. Languages: good spoken and written English and Italian. Soft Skills: problem-solving mindset and ability to work effectively in an international team environment.
