Team Profile The Securities Lending Technology team supports the Securities Lending business across Japan and Asia. We partner closely with trading, operations and global technology teams to run, enhance and modernize business-critical systems in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. The team operates globally across Asia, Europe and the United States. We work in small, collaborative teams that value ownership, pragmatic delivery, continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Role Profile We are seeking a Vice President and Senior Development Lead to support the continued growth of the Japan Securities Lending business and strengthen the Asia development team. This is a hands-on leadership role combining software engineering, solution design, delivery ownership and close partnership with the front office. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic technology solutions, from requirements and analysis through design, development, testing, deployment and production support. You will also help shape the technical roadmap, improve engineering standards and guide developers across the region. Key Responsibilities Own technology delivery for assigned initiatives across the full software development lifecycle, with clear accountability for quality, resilience and timely execution. Partner directly with the Securities Lending trading desk and operations teams to understand business priorities, define requirements and deliver effective solutions. Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in Java and Scala development. Design scalable, maintainable solutions across on-premises and public cloud environments. Drive sound architecture, engineering practices, testing discipline and production readiness. Coordinate delivery across regional and global teams, identifying dependencies, risks and decisions early. Guide and develop junior engineers through coaching, code reviews, technical direction and knowledge sharing. Communicate clearly with business and technology stakeholders, translating complex topics into practical options and recommendations. Support the stability and continuous improvement of business-critical applications. What You'll Bring to the Role At least 7 years of relevant experience would generally be expected to demonstrate the skills required for this role. Strong hands-on development experience in Java and/or Scala, supported by a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures and object-oriented design. Experience leading complex software delivery and taking ownership from initial analysis through production implementation. Experience working directly with a front-office trading function in a fast-paced environment. Strong relational database design and SQL skills. Experience delivering reliable applications on Linux-based platforms. Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and modern software engineering practices. Ability to manage multiple priorities, guide junior staff and lead initiatives across teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior business and technology stakeholders. Advanced understanding of the relevant business and technical discipline, together with awareness of the wider market and technology
