About the Role As an Italy Payroll Analyst , you will be responsible for administering and overseeing the end-to-end payroll process for our Italy population. You’ll partner closely with HR, Finance, Employment Tax, Legal and our external payroll providers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong technical expertise in Italian payroll legislation, statutory compliance and employee taxation . You will act as the Italy Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) , ensuring robust payroll governance, maintaining high standards of accuracy and supporting continuous improvement across our Workday and CloudPay payroll ecosystem. You will also play an important role in identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and improve payroll processes, while supporting wider global payroll initiatives and projects. What You’ll Be Doing Lead the end-to-end Italy payroll process — from data preparation, validation and payroll inputs through to review, reconciliation and final sign-off, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery. Act as the Italy Payroll SME , providing expert guidance on Italian payroll legislation, taxation, statutory requirements and payroll best practice. Support other payroll entities within the team where required, contributing to the successful delivery of the wider global payroll operation. Oversee outsourced payroll processing with our payroll provider, CloudPay, ensuring agreed SLAs, controls and quality standards are consistently met. Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Employment Tax and Legal to resolve payroll issues, ensure accurate data flows and deliver a seamless employee payroll experience. Maintain strong knowledge of Italian payroll legislation and statutory requirements , ensuring payroll processes remain compliant with regulatory changes. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of Italian statutory payments, contributions and filings , including social security, income tax and other applicable statutory requirements. Review and reconcile payroll outputs , identifying discrepancies and ensuring issues are investigated and resolved before payroll sign-off. Prepare and reconcile payroll journals and Finance reporting , ensuring payroll costs are accurately reflected in financial records and supporting audit requirements. Manage payroll controls and governance , ensuring appropriate checks are completed throughout each payroll cycle and maintaining a strong audit trail. Drive continuous improvement and automation , identifying opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve controls and increase payroll efficiency. Act as SME for CloudPay and Workday payroll processes in Italy , supporting system enhancements, integrations, testing and payroll-related projects. Support Workday and payroll implementation/migration projects , including requirements gathering, testing, parallel runs and go-live activities. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders , proactively identifying risks and resolving payroll issues. Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues across the wider Payroll team, supporting a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence. Support regional and global payroll initiatives , ensuring Italy remains aligned with Deliveroo’s wider payroll strategy and operating model.
