This apprenticeship gives you the chance to become a multi-skilled maintenance technician across both electrical and mechanical disciplines, with hands-on experience on industry-leading equipment, some of which only exists at Amazon. Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is fundamental to our operations - they keep vital machinery running around the clock. As an RME Mechatronics Apprentice, you'll help maintain a wide range of equipment while upholding Health and Safety best practice, keeping your colleagues safe, preventing downtime, and improving the availability and quality of our equipment. You'll thrive here if you stay calm when things go wrong and get a real kick out of fixing them. You're hands-on, curious about how machines work, and you understand that keeping production moving is what it's all about. And you don't need to be a qualified engineer to start - what matters most is a practical, problem-solving mindset and a hunger to learn. A day in the life can involve: - Carrying out proactive and preventative maintenance - Carrying out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse - Using the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness - Making modifications and upgrades to existing equipment - Upholding health and safety policies and practices - Working on continuous improvement projects, and suggesting long-term improvements Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll build a broad, in-demand engineering skillset, including: - Fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance - Mechanical device maintenance, and fluid power systems assembly and testing - Electrical equipment wiring and testing - Hydraulics and pneumatics - Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operations - CAD design and 3D printing Here at Amazon, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Throughout the apprenticeship you'll work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance), combining practical, on-the-job experience with industry-recognised study. Your first 12 months will be a full-time residential programme, based either at one of our external training provider facilities or at our own world-class Amazon training centres - reflecting our significant investment in developing state-of-the-art facilities for the next generation of engineers. If you live outside a commutable distance, accommodation will be provided during term time for these first 12 months, and travel expenses will be supported. Please note: some of our training sites aren't accessible by public transport, so you'll need to be able to arrange reliable travel to and from site. Access to a car can make this easier but isn't essential. In later years, you'll combine day or block-release study for your HNC in Engineering or Mechatronics with on-the-job training at one of our Fulfilment Centres, Sortation Centres, or Delivery Stations, learning directly from experienced technicians and engineers and gaining exposure to real engineering projects. This role supports our 24/7 operation, so you'll work shifts covering days, nights and weekends - patterns that reflect the real-world schedules
