Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is fundamental to our operations - they keep vital machinery running around the clock. As an RME Mechatronics Apprentice, you'll help maintain a wide range of equipment while upholding Health and Safety best practice, keeping your colleagues safe, preventing downtime, and improving the availability and quality of our equipment. You'll thrive here if you stay calm when things go wrong and get a real kick out of fixing them. You're hands-on, curious about how machines work, and you understand that keeping production moving is what it's all about. And you don't need to be a qualified engineer to start - what matters most is a practical, problem-solving mindset and a hunger to learn. A day in the life can involve: - Carrying out proactive and preventative maintenance - Carrying out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse - Using the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness - Making modifications and upgrades to existing equipment - Upholding health and safety policies and practices - Working on continuous improvement projects, and suggesting long-term improvements Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll build a broad, in-demand engineering skillset, including: - Fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance - Mechanical device maintenance, and fluid power systems assembly and testing - Electrical equipment wiring and testing - Hydraulics and pneumatics - Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operations - CAD design and 3D printing Here at Amazon, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Within this apprenticeship, you'll learn by doing, putting newfound knowledge into practice every day. Throughout the apprenticeship you will work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, combining practical, on-the-job experience with industry recognised study. This is a 3-year program where you will spend one day per week with our training partner focusing on the academic learning component of your apprenticeship. You will work towards achieving both a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering AND an ETA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering. During the remainder of the week, you will gain hands-on experience at one of our Fulfilment Centres, Sortation Centres, or Delivery Stations. You will learn directly from experienced technicians and engineers and gain exposure to real engineering projects. You'll support our 24/7 operation in shift patterns covering days, nights and weekends that reflect the real-world schedules of engineers who keep Amazon operating around the clock. Please note: some of our training sites aren't accessible by public transport, so you'll need to be able to arrange reliable travel to and from site. Access to a car can make this easier but isn't essential. In later years, you'll combine day or block-release study for your qualification in Engineering or Mechatronics with on-the-job training at one of our Fulfilment Centres, Sortation
