## Description

At Amazon, Security is our highest priority. Our team builds products and services to continuously identify, track, and mitigate security risks in third-party software and open source libraries across AWS. AWS Security is looking for a Security Engineer to manage security vulnerabilities in third-party software and open source libraries used by AWS applications and services. You'll invent and simplify mechanisms that make updating vulnerable third-party packages a natural part of the software development lifecycle within AWS, and you will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our services. A Security Engineer at Amazon is expected to be strong in their security domain, for this role it's third party software and open source vulnerability management, and provide contributions to the AWS Security team and to our customers throughout Amazon. Security engineers are expected to develop elegant solutions to complex business problems and apply appropriate technologies while following security engineering best practices. You are also expected to mentor more junior engineers and be a security thought leader for the organization. A Security Engineer must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. When solutions fail, they dive deep and make sure that root causes are understood and eliminated with a permanent solution. They take on projects where business and security problems are well understood, but the implementations aren't fully thought out. They balance constraints, limiting the use of short-term workarounds. They ensure the solutions they produce can be maintained and supported or built upon by those not familiar with the space by writing clear documentation and making logical design choices. You'll be handling complex challenges related to scaling third-party software vulnerability management across AWS's ever-growing infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to: 1) Analyze third-party software and open source vulnerabilities, holding an opinionated view of which pose the greatest risk to our customers 2) Build end-to-end tracking, monitoring, and remediation mechanisms that enable service teams to update third-party software at zero builder cost 3) Drive large-scale, high-impact remediation and react quickly to new threat scenarios 4) Build security automation and use GenAI tooling to scale your impact across the fleet 5) Deliver security metrics and process improvements About the team Diverse Experiences Amazon Security values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying. Why Amazon Security? At Amazon, security is central to maintaining customer trust and delivering delightful customer experiences. Our organization is responsible for creating and maintaining a high bar for security across all of Amazon’s products and services. We offer talented security professionals the chance to accelerate their careers with opportunities to build experience in a wide variety of areas including cloud, devices, retail, entertainment, healthcare, operations, and physical stores.
