## Description

Associate / Senior Associate – Projects (Energy Regulatory), Johannesburg, 3-8 years' PQE. You'll join the Projects team within the Finance & Projects department of Pinsent Masons Africa LLP, advising on infrastructure and energy projects in South Africa, across Africa and in other jurisdictions. Key clients include IFC, Sola, Pele, Voltalia, BII, NatWest, Lloyds Banking Group, KfW and Zenobe Energy. Key Responsibilities Advising on energy projects under energy regulatory frameworks (generation, transmission, distribution, trading) Drafting, reviewing and negotiating power purchase agreements (including wheeling), implementation agreements and connection agreements Leading (Senior Associate) and managing (Associate/Senior Associate) complex energy project transactions from inception to completion Collaborating with colleagues across jurisdictions on multi-jurisdictional projects Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers Contributing to business development: pitches, networking, presentations, seminars, training Thought leadership: articles, client briefings, publications Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential 3-8 years' PQE Experience in a leading infrastructure and/or energy practice Desirable Working knowledge of energy regulatory frameworks and experience advising on energy projects PPA, implementation and connection agreement drafting and negotiation Transaction leadership and management Cross-border collaboration People management Business development capability Thought leadership and market engagement Continuous learning and initiative
