Join Thales as a Senior Data Security Sales Engineer (SE) and become the technical expert who connects cybersecurity innovation with business success. You will play a key role in supporting our Eastern Europe sales organization, helping customers discover the value of Thales Data Security solutions. The SE is an integral part of the sales organization: you will assist the sales team with pre-sales technical knowledge, presentations, demonstrations, workshops, proof-of-concept, etc. You work closely with sales managers, prospects, and partners as a technical subject-matter expert to demonstrate how our proposed solutions meet and exceed customer requirements. The position is based in Bucharest, Romania. We expect that you would be travelling approximately 50% of the time, but it will vary; some weeks more, some weeks less. Job Description What you will do: Partner with Regional Sales Managers to develop sales strategies and drive business growth; Work closely with our prospects to gather information on their use-case, application environment and data flows to fully understand their needs; Once discovery is complete, present and demonstrate how Thales’ security solutions deliver value to customers; Plan, manage, and execute product evaluations and Proof of Value (PoV) engagements; Enable and support distributors and partners, strengthening their technical expertise and ability to position our solutions; Contribute to RFI/RFP responses and articulate our competitive advantages; Collaborate with technical support, Product Management, and Product Development to resolve critical issues and share valuable market feedback. What will make you successful? We are looking for a technically strong, customer-focused professional who understands that successful pre-sales is about more than product knowledge. It is about listening, building trust, understanding customer challenges, and connecting the right technology to the right business outcome. ABOUT YOU We would love to hear from you if you have: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math or a related field; At least 10 years of experience in possibly more than one of the following areas: network security, cryptography, cybersecurity; preferably with 5 or more of these years as a sales engineer and experience working in a start-up or vendor environment; Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time; Fluent written and spoken English; Self-starter with exceptional ability to work independently in a dynamic environment; Excellent communication & presentation skills; Excellent listening skills; Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills; Experience in presenting to large audiences either in person or virtually to both management (C-level) and technical personnel (developers, IT teams, etc.); Technically hands-on with skills in problem solving, development and architecture design; Experience authoring product-focused technical documents such as test reports, technical docs, RFIs, RFPs, etc.; Possess a solid understanding of virtualisation products and related technologies such as VMWare, HyperV, XEN, KVM, containers (K8s), etc.; Possess a solid understanding of the concepts of Cryptography and Cloud Security – ideally including several of the following: PKI, digital signatures, certificates, TLS, hashing, encryption techniques,
