Senior Manager, Application Engineering Adyen’s Application Engineering team builds, runs, and automates the core platforms Adyen uses every day to collaborate: the Atlassian suite, Slack Enterprise Grid, Google Workspace, Zoom, and the emerging AI tooling that connects them (such as Claude, Gemini Enterprise, and Rovo). We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who has guided workplace collaboration, tooling, or internal platforms teams, and who excels at translating complex backlogs into clear, high-impact deliverables. In this role, you will lead a team of 11+ engineers, own the platform roadmap, and partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders who rely on our productivity ecosystem across the company. ***(internally, the role is being called Team Lead, Application Engineering) What You’ll Do Strategy & Roadmapping: Establish the team’s short- and medium-term vision. Synthesize requests from across the business, balance priorities against capacity, and transparently communicate trade-offs to stakeholders. Project Delivery: Guide projects end-to-end—from scoping and planning through delivery and rollout—establishing clear milestones, ownership, risk management, and progress reporting. Platform Operations: Coordinate and execute tool launches, migrations, and platform enhancements across a global workforce, incorporating effective change management, communication, and training. Governance & Reliability: Maintain a secure, reliable, and scalable SaaS ecosystem, partnering with Security and Enterprise Access Management on identity, access governance, and data protection controls. Automation & AI Innovation: Champion the team’s automation and AI roadmap in partnership with our Forward Deployed Engineering team, integrating agentic workflows that reduce friction for both your team and end users. Vendor Partnerships: Oversee SaaS vendor relationships, licensing strategies, and contract renewals. People Leadership: Mentor, support, and grow a team of Enterprise Applications Engineers. Set transparent goals, provide constructive feedback to support career progression, and lead using Adyen’s framework: Empower, Care, Act, Scale . Team Growth: Lead hiring initiatives and intentionally shape team organization and capabilities as Adyen scales. Operational Excellence: Set and sustain standards for documentation, operational hygiene, and support escalation to ensure long-term platform resilience. Technical Guidance: Maintain active technical engagement by participating in architecture decisions, code reviews, and integration designs. Who You Are Proven Leadership: Demonstrated background leading engineering teams focused on internal tooling, enterprise applications, or digital workplace platforms Execution & Delivery: Skilled in complex project management—proficient at estimating, tracking, and shipping parallel initiatives while keeping distributed stakeholders informed. SaaS Domain Expertise: Practical experience operating and scaling enterprise collaboration platforms (e.g., Atlassian suite, Slack Enterprise Grid, Google Workspace, Zoom). Technical Foundation: Solid architectural understanding of productivity and enterprise platforms, enabling you to make sound technical trade-offs and evaluate engineering solutions.
