Senior Manager, Senior Counsel - Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications The Capital One Legal Department is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and business-minded attorney to join our growing Global Payment Network Legal team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams. At Capital One, Legal is not a “check-the-box” function. About the Role: The Senior Manager, Senior Counsel role will be primarily responsible for managing legal review of initiatives driven by the Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams. In this role, you will: Provide strategic, risk-adjusted counsel to Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams Design and drive review process improvements that increase agility without compromising governance Act as an embedded business partner with a “one team” mindset Partner cross-functionally with Legal colleagues across the enterprise Direct and manage outside counsel on specialized or complex matters The successful candidate will have the following: Ability to understand complex topics quickly with depth that allows for concise and simple advice Problem solving mentality rather than thinking only like a legal technician Growth mindset with an openness to new ideas, diverse perspectives, and unconventional solutions Strong people skills - we’re looking for someone who can build collegial and effective relationships with colleagues and clients Ownership mentality, thinking like an owner vs. an employee Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize a significant volume of work and to manage multiple deadlines Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others and write concisely Basic Qualifications: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active member in good standing of at least one state bar At least 6 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel 3+ years experience providing legal advice to marketing, brand, and communications teams Experience within the payment card or payments industry At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization, or offer any immigration related support for this position (e.g. H1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN, E-3, and O-1, or any other forms of work authorization that require immigration support from an employer). Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $200,700 - $229,100 for Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel New York, NY: $219,000 - $249,900 for Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel Richmond, VA: $182,500 - $208,300 for Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel Riverwoods, IL: $182,500 - $208,300 for Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of
