Amazon Operations is at the heart of our business. As a Senior Operations Manager in this dynamic and challenging environment, no one knows your area better than you. You are responsible for operational metrics and develop strategies to meet our customers' needs and drive Amazon Operations forward. You will also lead, develop, and grow a large team while coaching and empowering your team leaders. Key job responsibilities - Team / future talent development - Monitoring operational metrics and business performance - Contributing to budget planning, taking into - account all aspects — from finance through to workforce planning - Maintaining the highest standards in operational health and safety - Strategic planning for the next three, six, and twelve months, with a focus on peak season planning - Taking ownership of the leaders in your area, including performance and feedback conversations as well as their development A day in the life As a Senior Operations Manager, you are responsible for multiple areas of an Amazon fulfillment center. You steer operational metrics, develop strategies to deliver on our customer promises, and lead a team of leaders. Your focus is on operational excellence, workplace safety, budget and capacity planning, as well as setting the strategic direction for the months ahead — particularly peak season. You create contingency plans, drive quality and productivity initiatives, and develop your leaders through regular feedback and coaching. In doing so, you combine a hands-on operational mindset with long-term thinking and set the highest standards as a role model across the entire organization. Basic qualifications - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and experience supporting month-end closing processes and contributing to financial reporting under established procedures - Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization - Speak, write, and read fluently in German and English at C1 level or above - Experience in manufacturing, production, distribution logistics environments, retail, or grocery management roles Preferred qualifications - Experience working with and managing third party vendors - Master's degree in engineering, finance, supply chain, logistics, computer science or equivalent - Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
