## Description

Agentic development is redefining how software gets built, and Kiro is at the center of it. Kiro is an agentic AI from AWS that turns prompts into structured requirements, designs, and sequenced tasks, then implements them with parallel agents that verify correctness. It's available as a desktop IDE, a CLI, a web app, a mobile app, and Kiro Crew (an open-source persistent development workspace), all powered by one unified agent harness. We're seeking a customer-obsessed Senior UX Researcher to join our Kiro UX team and lead research efforts for our web products. You'll uncover deep insights into developer workflows, pain points, and opportunities that will directly influence product strategy and design decisions. Your research will help us build developer experiences that are not just functional, but transformative—enabling developers to focus on what matters most: creating great software. Key job responsibilities As a Senior UX Researcher on the Kiro UX team, you will own the complete research lifecycle for our web products while driving strategic impact across the developer experience. You'll apply expertise across research methodologies to solve complex problems in the developer tools space, from understanding how developers interact with AI-assisted coding to optimizing workflows for cloud-native development. You'll design and execute mixed-method research studies—including generative research to identify unmet needs, evaluative studies to validate concepts, and longitudinal research to understand adoption patterns. Working backward from developer needs, you'll identify opportunities to innovate and make evidence-based recommendations that shape product roadmaps. You'll transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights and communicate research impact to cross-functional partners through compelling reports and artifacts that resonate with audiences from engineers to senior leadership. Your research will influence how developers worldwide interact with Kiro's AI-powered development platform, shaping products that accelerate software development and improve productivity. About the team You'll join a team of designers and researchers embedded directly in the Kiro product organization. We sit alongside product and engineering as one team, which means design has a seat at the table from strategy through shipping. We have dedicated UX research support and work in close collaboration with our researchers, so design decisions are grounded in real customer insight, not assumptions. Our team covers the full Kiro product suite: IDE, CLI, Web, Mobile, Kiro Crew, the Kiro agent, and platform capabilities. We support each other's growth, share work openly, and believe that the best design comes from people who bring diverse perspectives and their own way of working. If you thrive in an environment where you have real ownership, close partnership with research, and the autonomy to choose how you approach a problem, you'll feel at home here. Basic qualifications - 5+ years of proven success leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact experience - 5+ years of hands-on work with: field research, ethnography, lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, and survey design experience - Bachelor's degree in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field - Experience in leading User Research projects with demonstrated impact - Experience with field research, ethnography, lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, and survey design - Experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) - Experience with behavioral data collection, quantitative data analysis, and statistics - Have a portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas) Preferred qualifications - Experience in a technical
