Role Summary: LSEG is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team in delivering strategic services for our flagship LSEG Workspace platform. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our technology ecosystem while encouraging a culture of excellence and innovation within your team. What You’ll Be Doing: End-to-End Delivery: Drive all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, unit testing, and integration. Ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with the product roadmap. Managing iterative releases, and making informed decisions throughout the delivery process. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to define and refine requirements for strategic improvements to the LSEG Workspace services. Operational Excellence: Collaborate with DevOps to guarantee reliability, scalability, and robust monitoring of infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted service. Leadership & Communication: Articulate business and technical strategies to your team and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Reporting & Governance: Provide regular updates to the Development Director on progress, architecture decisions, dependencies, and potential roadblocks. Team Development: Mentor team members to enhance technical expertise, development practices, and ways of working. Participate in recruitment activities to build and strengthen the team. What You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and at least one programming language; Azure, Terraform, and Python experience would be advantageous. Strong technical understanding of modern web technologies, Linux, containerisation, and the design and operation of critical, high-volume distributed systems. Experience with API gateways or web traffic management technologies would be beneficial. Consistent track record managing multiple projects and complex product development cycles in an Agile environment. Experience leading distributed, cross-functional teams to deliver software projects under timelines. Ability to define the technical vision and architecture for critical platform components, make informed engineering trade-offs, and lead teams from design through delivery. Customer-focused approach, skilled in identifying project opportunities, understanding customer needs, and translating them into clear, actionable requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly and influence senior leaders, business partners. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a solution-oriented attitude. Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the emotional intelligence
