Job Description Senior Tax Analyst, US Indirect Tax (Thomson Reuters) The Senior Tax Analyst is a key contributor to Thomson Reuters' Indirect Tax team. You will make sure our ONESOURCE™ software products stay accurate, reliable, and compliant. You will turn complex, changing tax regulations into clear software requirements for diverse markets. You will work closely with product, development, design, and support teams to deliver solutions customers trust. Key responsibilities Own a defined set of tax jurisdictions: research, interpret, and document statutes, regulations, legislative activity, court decisions, and notices, and assess how changes and proposed developments affect our products. Resolve conflicting or incomplete guidance by drafting clarification requests to tax authorities and recommending defensible interim approaches. Lead content implementation for your jurisdictions: scope changes, write detailed specifications, and coordinate cross-functional handoffs to meet deadlines with high accuracy. Model and validate complex calculations and corner cases, and make sure tax content aligns with data models and the user interface. Translate regulatory requirements into testable requirements, user stories, and implement into ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination. Use tax research platforms and AI-enabled tools to work efficiently and validate their outputs. Act as the subject matter expert and project point person for the Tax Research & Content team, advising non-tax colleagues and supporting Customer Support with client inquiries. Manage deliverables reliably, flag risks early, identify process improvements, and train and mentor Associates and Analysts. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, or Finance (or a JD, LLM, MBA, or CPA/Chartered Tax Adviser). Significant hands-on experience developing tax-related content, such as US sales and use tax. Strong ability to research, analyze, and interpret tax laws, regulations, and court decisions. Experience translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, testable specifications. Proficiency with tax software and research platforms (e.g., Checkpoint, Westlaw). Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, including modeling and validating complex calculations. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain difficult tax concepts to non-tax audiences and adjust style to the audience. Ability to work independently, adopt new tools (including AI-enabled features) quickly, and adapt to shifting priorities. Preferred qualifications Experience working for a public accounting firm or corporate tax department. Fluency in languages other than English. Advanced credentials such as a JD, LLM, MBA, CPA, or Chartered Tax Adviser. Experience with UAT processes in a software or technology environment. Experience drafting correspondence to tax authorities on complex or ambiguous matters. Experience with indirect tax across multiple jurisdictions or international markets.
