## Description

About the role Charles River Development (CRD), the FinTech division of State Street, provides cloud-based front-office technology that, together with State Street's middle- and back-office services, forms the State Street Alpha platform. CRD is modernizing and expanding its platform with cloud-native technologies. As a UI Developer II, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of user-facing applications across one or more Charles River or Alpha platform modules. You will work as part of an Agile engineering team, partnering with engineers, business analysts, product managers, and other teams to deliver clear, reliable solutions to complex business problems. This individual-contributor role works with moderate supervision and provides engineering support to customer-support and development teams when needed. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain user interfaces and single-page applications, primarily using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Contribute to small- and medium-sized enhancements and solutions within the platform's business and technical domains. Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, and product partners to turn requirements into practical, maintainable software. Write and maintain unit and automation tests; conduct manual testing to help ensure product quality. Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and incorporating feedback on your own work. Troubleshoot software issues and help resolve problems reported by customer-support or other development teams. Participate in the Agile development process, including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Coordinate with teammates across functions as needed to complete assignments. Keep current with relevant UI engineering practices and technologies. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field; a master's degree is a plus. 2–5 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining web user interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript; professional React experience is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software development fundamentals. Experience developing, debugging, and testing software, and contributing to projects of small-to-medium scope with moderate supervision. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment. Preferred qualifications Experience with React application architecture, reusable component or package development, and state-management approaches such as Redux or RxJS. Familiarity with front-end testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Jasmine. Familiarity with Node.js and package managers such as npm or Yarn. Experience with Agile software development and code-review practices. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Exposure to cloud-native development, especially Microsoft Azure, or to technologies such as Kafka, Kubernetes, or Snowflake. Experience in financial technology or knowledge of investment-management workflows such as portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management. Familiarity with Java or C#/.NET. Salary Range: $70,000 - $118,750 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ. Employees are eligible to participate in State Street’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes: our retirement savings plan (401K) with company match; insurance coverage including basic life, medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and other optional additional coverages; paid-time off including vacation, sick leave, short term disability, and family care responsibilities; access to our Employee Assistance
