Title and Summary Software Engineer II Mastercard Digital Enablement Services (MDES) is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Quality Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, automation, and execution of end-to-end quality engineering solutions supporting tokenization, digital payments, and emerging payment technologies. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, architects, and fellow quality engineers to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and highly reliable solutions. The ideal candidate is passionate about quality, automation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. As a Software Engineer II, you will design, develop, and support scalable software solutions that power Mastercard's global technology platforms. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to application design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and operational excellence. This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, a passion for building reliable systems, and a commitment to delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced Agile environment. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications, services, and APIs. • Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions that support scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability. • Build and enhance microservices and distributed systems that support Mastercard's technology ecosystem. • Develop high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code following engineering best practices and coding standards. • Participate in requirements reviews, solution design discussions, sprint planning, and technical refinement activities. • Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve software quality and maintainability. • Apply secure coding practices and software engineering standards throughout the development lifecycle. • Develop and maintain automated tests to support application quality and reliability. • Support CI/CD pipelines and engineering automation to accelerate software delivery. • Analyze application logs, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions. • Optimize application performance, scalability, resiliency, and operational readiness. • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Platform, and Quality teams to deliver customer-focused solutions. • Contribute to engineering best practices, technical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence. • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions to improve productivity and software quality. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 3+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise applications and services. • Strong programming skills in Java and object-oriented design principles. • Strong experience and sound knowledge of Java, Spring, JUnit, Eclipse IDE, Rest Assured, JBehave/Cucumber frameworks, databases such as Oracle, APIs including REST/SOAP, Continuous Delivery concepts and tools such as Jenkins/Bamboo, and vulnerability tools such as Sonar, Checkmarx/Fortify. • Experience with XP, TDD and BDD in the software development processes and architecture patterns • Experience designing, developing, testing, and
