Overview The Decision Management program enables intelligent, decision-based products through streaming analytics, providing the ability to govern decisions and manage their outcomes with business agility. The platform leverages business rules and AI engines, streaming big-data technologies, in-memory data grids, APIs, and user interfaces to deliver real-time decisions at global scale. We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our DMP team in our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will contribute hands-on to software design, development, testing, and delivery while collaborating with experienced engineers and supporting the growth of junior team members. Are you: • A strong software engineer with experience building high-performance applications? • Excited about getting a 360-degree view of the coding world - writing code to develop a piece of code as well as write code to test it? • Passionate about solving complex technical problems and delivering meaningful customer outcomes? • Interested in building technology that helps prevent fraud across Mastercard transactions globally? Role • Design, develop, and maintain application functionality primarily using Java. • Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and functional tests. • Apply software engineering best practices to produce well-designed, maintainable, scalable, secure, and testable code. • Take ownership of assigned features and backlog items from development through testing and delivery. • Diagnose technical issues and develop creative solutions to complex problems. • Collaborate with senior engineers and other team members to resolve technical challenges and delivery blockers. • Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including refinement, planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior engineers. • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate development progress, technical considerations, risks, and next steps. • Contribute consistently toward sprint and iteration commitments and overall team objectives. • Leverage approved AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, to accelerate development, improve engineering productivity, and enhance code quality. About You Essential Knowledge / Experience • Strong software development and programming skills with solid knowledge of Java. • Strong knowledge of Spring and related Java frameworks. • Good understanding of object-oriented design, software design principles, and development best practices. • Experience with unit-testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, or EasyMock. • Good SQL knowledge and experience working with Oracle databases. • Experience
