## Description

Amazon's last-mile delivery network relies on thousands of independent Delivery Service Partners (DSPs)- small businesses whose drivers deliver packages to customers every day. We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to shape the technical direction of the platforms that support the full driver journey: from onboarding and qualification to communication, recognition, and the tools DSP owners use to manage and grow their teams. In this role, you will own the architecture and technical strategy across multiple engineering teams. You will lead large, cross-team initiatives from concept to production, design scalable distributed systems, and drive operational excellence across a global, regulated domain spanning 20+ countries. You will go wherever the problem is—including partnering with teams across Amazon—to deliver the right solution for customers. This is a high-ownership role where you will balance hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, mentoring engineers, and influencing partner teams' roadmaps. •Scope: Technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and production services. •Technologies: Java, TypeScript, React, and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, CDK). Key job responsibilities • Own the technical strategy and multi-year architecture across multiple teams and platforms; author the design documents and technical vision those teams build against. • Lead large, ambiguous, cross-team projects from concept to production; decompose them into milestones other engineers can own and deliver. • Design and build secure, scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems with robust authentication, authorization, and data-handling practices. • Turn regulatory requirements from multiple countries into configurable, global solutions—partnering closely with product, compliance, and legal teams. • Drive operational excellence through monitoring, root-cause analysis, deployment best practices, and continuous improvement of availability, latency, and cost. • Mentor engineers across teams, contribute to hiring, and raise the engineering bar through code reviews, design reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions. A day in the life You will work across teams and systems—connecting the dots and helping move things forward. That means design reviews, hands-on coding, debugging production issues, and pairing on APIs that power real-world driver workflows. You will collaborate with product, compliance, legal, and engineering partners across multiple countries. Beyond the roadmap, you might interview candidates, contribute fixes across codebases, support on-call, or run workshops to help fellow engineers grow. About the team Partner Connection Technology builds the systems connecting Amazon with its Delivery Service Partners (DSPs)—independent small businesses whose drivers deliver Amazon packages. We manage the full driver lifecycle: onboarding, identity checks, vehicle/route qualifications, communication across email, apps, and messaging, and recognition experiences like customer-to-driver thank-yous. Serving DSP owners, drivers, and Amazon support teams in 20+ countries, our three engineering teams focus on absorbing complexity so small business owners don't have to—building configurable global solutions, not one-off fixes. The domain is regulated and fast-moving, with real architecture challenges and room to shape it. Basic qualifications - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Preferred qualifications - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management,
