Together, we are shaping the future. ABOUT THE ROLE ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an entity within EDGE dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies. ADVANCED CONCEPTS is fast-tracking the development of high-technology autonomous systems, including three Medium Endurance, High Altitude, fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems, a family of precision loitering munitions, a cost- effective family of cruise missiles, and a range of guided artillery munitions. RESPONSIBILITIES • Set up and operate 3-axis and 3+2 CNC vertical and horizontal machining centres; select and mount work holding, fixtures, and cutting tools per setup sheets and engineering drawings. • Edit, adapt, and optimize existing CNC programs at the controller (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain); write basic milling programs independently for prismatic components using conversational or G-code programming. • Perform tool length offsets, work offsets, and datum establishment; conduct dry runs and verify toolpaths before cutting production parts. • Perform first-off and in-process inspection using hand gauges, height gauges, and CMM where applicable; make real-time accept/rework decisions against engineering drawings and GD&T callouts. • Identify machining issues (chatter, tool breakage, dimensional drift) and implement corrective actions: tool changes, parameter adjustments, or program edits. • Maintain accurate job travelers, setup sheets, and in-process inspection records per ISO 9001 requirements. • Ensure compliance with EHS, 5S, FOD controls, and coolant management across assigned machining centers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Diploma / ITI Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, CNC Technology, or equivalent trade qualification. • CNC programming training certificate preferred; familiarity with ISO 9001 shop-floor documentation required. • Minimum 6 years of CNC milling machine operation experience in a precision machining environment. • Ability to read and edit CNC programs at the controller; experience writing simple G-code or conversational milling programs. • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings with GD&T callouts and perform dimensional verification. • Proficient in work holding setup, tool selection, and offset management on 3-axis VMC/HMC. • Exposure to 4th-axis or 3+2 positioning operations is an advantage PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • 3-axis VMC/HMC setup, operation, and work holding. • G-code / conversational CNC program editing and basic programming. • Tool offset management and datum establishment. • In-process inspection and GD&T verification. • Machining defect identification and parameter correction. • Job traveler and setup sheet documentation. • Solid Works – working knowledge.
