## Description

Technology Manager, Investment Data Systems The Role We are seeking an experienced Technology Manager to lead globally distributed engineering teams building platforms that enable Vanguard’s investment and product data capabilities. This is a people-first role, managing teams of talented individuals who build capabilities that acquire, manage, enrich, and distribute data across the firm, ensuring it is accurate, secure, well governed, and readily accessible to downstream consumers. The role is accountable for the delivery of cloud-native technology services including data ingestion pipelines, APIs and operational workflow capabilities, built using Python, Java, and AWS. The successful candidate will have strong people leadership skills, sound technical judgement with the ability to align product, architecture, business, and other technology partners through significant growth and transformational change. In this role you will Core Responsibilities People Leadership & Team Development Provide visible, supportive, and accountable leadership, creating an inclusive, high-performing culture built on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning Set clear expectations and strengthen performance, engagement, and retention through coaching, feedback, development, and succession planning Recruit, onboard, and develop talent to meet current and future capability needs Engineering Excellence Partner with technical leads and architects to create a culture of engineering excellence within the teams Ensure data platforms and services are scalable, resilient, maintainable, and support accurate, secure, well-governed, and readily accessible data for downstream consumers Drive continuous improvement and responsible adoption of AI-enabled engineering tools to improve productivity, quality, testing, documentation, and delivery Delivery Leadership Understand project objectives, dependencies, and risks, and translate priorities into clear team expectations and delivery commitments Lead confidently through ambiguity and change, ensuring teams have the capacity, skills, clarity, and support to deliver Work across product, business, delivery, and technology teams to anticipate risks, resolve impediments, and improve delivery flow Stakeholder Partnership & Influence Build trusted partnerships with business, product, architecture, and technology leaders to shape priorities and improve technology products and services Communicate priorities, risks, resource needs, and organisational challenges clearly, influencing alignment across competing stakeholder interests Represent team’s perspectives in leadership and strategic planning sessions Operational Leadership & Governance Ensure compliance with technology, security, risk, and governance requirements while strengthening service reliability, operational readiness, and incident management Contribute to workforce planning, organisational design, and strategy, connecting team priorities to broader business, technology, and investment-data objectives What It Takes Degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent training and experience Agile Development experience, and a clear understanding of the full dev ops cycle Experience delivering data platforms and services, ideally using event-driven, cloud-native architectures using modern programming languages (Python, Java etc.) Experience with application development for a global user base Experience of Agile development, the full DevOps lifecycle, data governance, and modern engineering practices Good understanding of AI-enabled engineering tools and their responsible use across the software development lifecycle Financial industry experience (buy side and/or sell side) preferred Special Factors Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) Please note that we review applications on a rolling basis and may close this role early
