Job Purpose

  • Lead the Funding Centre function’s operations across INR and relevant foreign currency funding requirements, while ensuring adherence to RBI, Basel and other applicable regulatory requirements as well as internal ALCO liquidity risk management policies. Work closely with Mashreq Dubai TCM desks and internal stakeholders to support the broader treasury franchise.
  • Drive efficient management of the Bank’s liquidity pool, funding mix and balance sheet in compliance with RBI guidelines to ensure adequate liquidity, optimization of cost of funds and maintenance of regulatory ratios, while actively managing liquidity buffers and investment books.
  • Manage and optimize the Bank’s money market and investment activities including G-Sec, T-Bills and non-SLR instruments such as CD, CP, and Corporate Bonds, while providing senior execution support / back-up for FX and derivatives activities and mentoring junior dealers.

 

Key Result Areas

  • Analyze the Bank’s balance sheet in terms of asset liability maturity gaps, repricing gaps, currency gaps, liquidity buffers and duration, and provide senior inputs for balance sheet strategy and optimization.
  • Own and execute funding and liquidity strategy for the INR book and relevant foreign currency funding requirements in line with business plans, ALCO guidance and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage the money market and investment books in an efficient manner to achieve targeted returns, including G-Sec, T-Bills and non-SLR instruments such as CD, CP, Corporate Bonds and Repo.

  • Drive P&L delivery for the desk through prudent deployment of funds, effective market execution, optimization of liability mix and disciplined management of spreads and carry.

  • Contribute to the Bank’s financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes, including funding assumptions, balance sheet analytics and internal transfer pricing inputs.

  • Comply with RBI regulations to ensure that there are no violations and adhere to directions from other regulatory bodies such as FEDAI, FIMMDA, CCIL and SEBI, while maintaining strong audit and control readiness.

  • Oversee liquidity buffers and ensure timely closure of foreign currency and interest rate gap positions in order to avoid unintended exposures and maintain regulatory and internal liquidity metrics.

  • Work with Corporate Banking, FI and Branches to diversify liability sources, expand funding avenues and support treasury revenues through coordinated market solutions.

  • Provide market inputs, deposit rate guidance and other treasury pricing support to internal stakeholders in a timely manner to enable competitive and disciplined client / branch pricing.

  • Develop and maintain advanced technical know-how in money markets, fixed income, FX, derivatives and futures areas in order to support the desk’s broader product capability and client service franchise.

  • Operate within designated limits to ensure bank exposure is kept at defined levels, oversee exception monitoring and maintain related MIS relating to client, counterparty and bank exposures.

  • Execute year-end and periodic balance sheet targets to enable the Bank to meet its positioning, liquidity and regulatory requirements.

  • Handle Nostro covering and funding adjustments to enable the Bank to manage and cover its exposure efficiently.

  • Represent the desk in relevant ALCO and internal forums and provide market intelligence and recommendations to senior management.

  • Maintain code of dealing ethics and conduct to achieve industry standards, while acting as desk lead for succession, training, supervision and mentoring of junior dealers.

  • Service the FX / Derivatives desk in order to act as senior back-up and ensure continuity of treasury dealing capabilities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • MBA / CA or equivalent professional qualification with 10-15 years of relevant dealing room experience in money markets, funding, liquidity and balance sheet management.
  • Strong knowledge of RBI liquidity / treasury regulations, ALM, FTP, balance sheet analytics and fixed income / money market products including G-Secs, T-Bills, CD, CP, Corporate Bonds and Repo.
  • Strong quantitative orientation and familiarity with Bloomberg / Reuters / treasury systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, analytical and decision-making skills with ability to act as a senior team player, mentor junior dealers and lead the desk on a day-to-day basis.
