How is the level calculated?

A fixed set of rules reads the title and description text for AI tool names, AI skill names, and generic AI mentions, then applies fixed score thresholds. It never calls a language model, so the result is free and instant.

Is my pasted text stored anywhere?

No. The text is held in memory for the length of one request and discarded once the result is shown. Nothing is written to a database, a file, or a log. The shareable link encodes only the level, the category, the market comparison and a truncated title, never the original text.

Where does the market comparison number come from?

It is read from the live postings in our own database, at the moment you submit the form, for the same job category the classifier detected. It is dated so you know exactly when it was measured, and it is not shown when there aren't enough live postings in that category to be a fair read.

Why does this only use rules, not an AI model?

Running a language model on every pasted job posting would cost money per use and make the tool slow. This tool uses a rule-based check, free to run. Postings on the board go through two passes: a lightweight statistical model scores every one when it is first ingested, and a language model re-reads live postings in the days after, refining the score, seniority and salary. As of 21 Sept. 2026, 23,720 of the 47,032 live postings (about half) have had that second pass; the rest still carry only the first pass's score. Either way, a posting can land one level apart here and on its Level page.
