Business Analyst, Payments Processing (Acquiring)

Team description

The acquiring team is the engine room behind every card transaction SumUp processes in Brazil, working daily with processors, schemes and finance to keep payments flowing smoothly for our merchants. This role sits at the centre of that engine: it's the operational bridge between our providers and the internal teams that depend on accurate, timely data to make good decisions. It's a role with real weight attached to it. Get it right, and merchants get paid without a hitch, costs stay under control and the business avoids the kind of processing issues that are expensive to unwind.

What you'll do

• Monitor approval, acceptance and other core payment KPIs, flagging anything that could affect financial results before it becomes a bigger problem
• Manage day-to-day relationships with processors and scheme partners, resolving transaction-processing and operational incidents as they come up
• Validate scheme and third-party invoices to make sure charges are accurate, justified and optimized
• Support the rollout of new payment capabilities and scheme compliance developments, working closely with technical and business teams
• Build and maintain documentation that helps merchants, internal stakeholders and the wider team understand how transaction processing actually works
• Identify opportunities to reduce processing costs and improve merchant experience through better data analysis

You'll be great for this role if...

• Strong analytical skills, with a track record of spotting patterns and root causes in transaction or operational data.
• Experience working with data analysis tools and SQL to investigate issues and support decision-making.
• Comfort managing relationships with external partners and cross-functional teams under time pressure.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, alongside Portuguese for local stakeholder and provider conversations.
• Background in payments, ideally with some exposure to acquiring, card schemes or transaction processing.
