Business Development Analyst

Typical Accountabilities 

• Support Business Development Directors and Managers in evaluations, feedback coordination, and communication with external parties. 
• Participate in team collaboration meetings and act as the key within Strategic Planning and Business Development (SPBD) contact for drafting, negotiating, and executing template agreements (e.g., CDAs/NDAs- Confidential Disclosure Agreements/Non-Disclosure Agreements, MTAs- Material Transfer Agreements, sponsored research collaborations, studentship agreements etc.). 
• Produce tailored collaboration and confidentiality agreements from template under guidance from Business Development Director/Manager and liaise with the Legal Department, IP and Finance to ensure fit-for-purpose agreements. 
• Coordinate with external parties, conduct minor negotiations within pre-agreed guidelines, and manage agreement drafting, execution and archiving. 
• Obtain financial approvals and raise Purchase Orders for payment of invoices in accordance with procedures.  
• Proactively communicate with internal contacts, providing timely reports on the status of collaborations/deals. 
• Ensure that all other contractual obligations of collaborations and licenses (e.g., scientific reviews, milestones, renewal dates and license option periods) are met by monitoring contract terms and keeping the sponsoring managers informed. 
• Manage funded collaboration payments, ensure they are made on time and accurately by liaising with Purchasing, using the appropriate system to ensure deals are local law compliant. 
• Track collaboration budgets, ensure that accruals are made accurately and in a timely manner, liaising with appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure partner obligations are met. 
• Maintain effective record-keeping and serve as the day-to-day contact for contracts, ensuring data accuracy in company databases. 
• Provide analyst reports on potential partners and assist in the preparation of briefing decks on opportunities. 
• Provide training and expertise on database systems, drive quality and consistency in deal flow processes, and support audit and governance activities. 

Qualifications and Skills 

• Essential: Some knowledge of the pharmaceutical business, process and activities; Extensive computer proficiency; Advanced knowledge of database systems and other such packages (including MSOffice, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dealz, SAP); Excellent time management and organizational skills; Detail orientation and ability to multi-task with shifting priorities; Ability to network. 

• Desirable: Some knowledge of the disease areas, drug development activities and commercial processes within AstraZeneca; Understanding of the terms within a collaboration agreement; Understanding of the process of establishing collaborative research ventures.
