Your role:

As part of the ABB way and our ambitious growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced legal counsel to be a multi-country lead in MEA + APAC of ELSP.  In this role you will develop and execute the legal and integrity strategy for MEA & APAC and act as a key business partner for the ELSP leadership team.  In partnership with our Centers of Expertise within Electrification, Group Legal, and other Division multi-country leads, you will be also ensuring that ELSP operations in the MEA + APAC meet legal and ethical standards. You will lead a team of lawyers in these countries, provide expert strategic and legal advice, manage risk and support the company’s global business objectives in line with the ABB Values. Your team is expected to support other divisions within the Electrification Business area, and therefore it is imperative that you operate with a mindset of leadership maturity and collaboration. You are always expected to role model ABB Values.

This role is contributing to the ELSP Division in MEA+APAC

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leading and developing a high-performing legal team across multiple countries, fostering collaboration, integrity, and alignment with ABB Values.
• Providing comprehensive legal and integrity support on matters including crisis management, cybersecurity, M&A, sustainability, human rights, trade compliance, litigation, IPR, anti-trust, AI, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborating strategically with Centers of Expertise, Group Legal & Integrity, and divisional legal teams to ensure alignment and effective risk management, including Risk Review coordination and acting as Division General Counsel delegate approver.
• Driving ABB’s integrity program and ethical culture while engaging a broad network of internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful business outcomes across the Electrification division.

What it takes to Run what runs the world

• Degree in Law, with preference for Bar admission where jurisdictionally required; licensed legal practitioner familiar with common and/or civil law systems.
• Minimum 10 -15 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house roles.
• Proven track record in leading teams, with decisive leadership, strong execution, and accountability.
• Strategic thinker with global awareness and customer focus, able to align legal strategy with business objectives.
• Collaborative partner across teams and stakeholders, fostering alignment and effective cross-functional engagement.
• Authentic servant leader, committed to developing others, skilled in conflict resolution, performance management, and constructive feedback.
• Preferred expertise in specialized practice areas such as M&A, data centre agreements, Oil & Gas EPC, nuclear business, product quality/claims management, and cybersecurity
• Willingness to travel as required.
