Role Summary

The role is responsible for providing high-quality financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and controllership support to the Marsh People and Investments BCS finance team. It also plays a key role in improving reporting processes, supporting business decision-making, and partnering with finance leadership to deliver accurate and timely financial information.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly variance analysis immediately following month-end as part of the control environment, providing Functional Leadership with monthly and year-to-date insight into key cost drivers, actual vs. budget variances, run-rate expenses, business initiatives, and cost efficiency impacts.
  • Partner with Functional Leadership on all budgeting and forecasting activities, including input gathering, processing, reporting, and analysis for both capital and P&L. Use Excel- and query-based analysis to support financial review, and help improve financial reporting processes and the use of global reporting tools across finance teams.
  • Coordinate with Controllership throughout the monthly close process, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, account analysis, general ledger review, and month-end accrual support.
  • Work closely with the wider Marsh People and Investments BCS finance team to ensure reporting timelines are met and to constructively challenge forecasts and budgets to ensure they remain commercially viable.
  • Coordinate the preparation of forecast and budget submissions by organizing and consolidating inputs from the Marsh People and Investments BCS finance team, and present outputs to the Global FP&A Director.
  • Support monthly flash reporting as well as the monthly and quarterly close processes, strategic planning, annual budgeting, and monthly forecasting cycles. Load and validate expense data in Excel and EPM (Corporate Applications).
  • Prepare analytical materials and presentations, including PowerPoint decks, supporting notes, and financial metrics. Produce ad hoc reports from corporate financial systems to support analysis of revenue, expense growth, and other key financial data.
  • Manage the Marsh People and Investments BCS allocation process (OTAP), ensuring allocations are accurate, timely, and clearly communicated to the business.
  • Partner with the Strategic Insights Group to enhance and further develop Marsh People and Investments financial dashboards.
  • Run monthly reconciliations and consolidations ensuring numbers are aligned across systems and to latest expected position of Forecast / Budget
  • Lead and deliver special projects.
