Hardware Engineer, Thermal Validation - Networking

NVIDIA's Networking Validation & Qualification team is looking for a Hardware Engineer to join our Thermal Validation team in Israel. This is a hardware-first role: your primary focus will be assembling test setups for switches, adapters (HCAs), and optical transceivers, then automating data collection and analysis to validate thermal performance under real-world conditions. The role spans hands-on lab engineering, test software development, tasks management, and coordination with the Qualification PM. Thermal domain knowledge is a strong plus — and something you will grow into on the job.

What you will be doing:

• Design, build, and maintain test setups to drive switches, adapters, and optical transceivers at maximum power envelopes; select and operate instrumentation including power supplies, thermal sensors (thermocouples, RTDs), FLIR cameras, and data-acquisition systems.
• Develop and maintain Python automation scripts to control lab instruments, execute test sequences, and collect results with minimal manual intervention.
• Build data pipelines that aggregate, process, and visualize thermal and electrical test results; apply AI-assisted analysis techniques to surface trends, outliers, and pass/fail status.
• Execute thermal validation test plans for air-cooled and liquid-cooled configurations; operate FLIR cameras, thermocouples, DAQ systems, and airflow meters, and calibrate instrumentation as required.
• Identify thermal risks — marginal design, overheating, thermal throttling, hotspots — and collaborate with mechanical and thermal design teams to validate cooling solutions and document findings in data-driven reports.
• Own day-to-day lab operations: equipment availability, calibration, setup documentation, and readiness; lead small-scope engineering projects from scope through delivery.
• Partner with the Qualification PM to track deliverables, flag risks, communicate progress to stakeholders, and present data-driven findings to cross-functional teams.

What we need to see:

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related hardware discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on hardware lab experience (industry, military unit, or equivalent).
• Proven skills with lab equipment: power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers; ability to probe, measure, and interpret analog/digital signals.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and board documentation.
• Experience writing test automation or lab scripts in Python (or equivalent).
• Structured, methodical approach to debugging and problem-solving.
• Good technical English for reading datasheets and writing clear test reports.
• Team-oriented mindset — comfortable working in a multi-discipline matrix environment.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Experience with thermal or environmental testing: temperature chambers, burn-in, airflow measurement, FLIR thermography.
• Familiarity with electro-optical devices — lasers, photodiodes, optical transceivers — and their thermal behavior.
• Experience applying data science or AI to test and reliability data.
• Exposure to CFD or Thermal Simulation tools (ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM)
• Experience in team leading, project coordination or task ownership in a multi-discipline team.
