Job Description:

Join the Name List Screening (NLS) team within Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) to build secure, scalable Google Cloud services that support the Bank’s global screening capabilities. As a Java Backend Engineer, you will work with a cross-functional Agile team to modernise critical applications, strengthen monitoring and screening controls, and help protect Deutsche Bank and society from financial crime.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain secure, scalable Java and Spring Boot backend services for AFC applications on Google Cloud.
• Develop cloud-native microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven integrations using clean architecture, Pub/Sub, and resilient design patterns.
• Deploy and operate containerised Java workloads on GKE and Cloud Run, integrating Cloud SQL, Spanner, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
• Automate testing and CI/CD pipelines, including security scanning, deployment, rollback, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
• Implement observability, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, SRE, Data, Product, and QA teams.

Skills

• Essential: 5+ years of hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience, with strong knowledge of object-oriented design, concurrency, JVM fundamentals, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Essential: Ability to design microservices, RESTful APIs, and synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven integrations.
• Essential: Hands-on Google Cloud skills across GKE or Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL or Spanner, IAM, Secret Manager, Logging, and Monitoring.
• Essential: Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, relational databases, automated testing, Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to collaborate in Agile teams, contribute to code reviews and technical refinement, and support production services.

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
