About Opportunity

Within J&J Technology, the Lead Engineer for J&J Learn will shape and advance the enterprise learning platform that enables workforce capability development across Johnson & Johnson. Combining technical product ownership, platform engineering, and strategic leadership, this role will translate business, HR, quality, compliance, and technology priorities into a secure, scalable, and intuitive learning ecosystem. The Lead Engineer will own the product vision and multi-year roadmap, guide major investments and design decisions, and mobilize global teams and partners to deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set product direction: Own and communicate the enterprise LMS vision, strategy, governance model, investment priorities, and multi-year roadmap aligned with workforce, business, and technology objectives.
  • Lead platform engineering: Provide technical direction for platform architecture, configuration, integrations, APIs, identity and access management, data, analytics, observability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Deliver prioritized outcomes: Translate stakeholder needs into a transparent backlog; lead prioritization and delivery of enhancements, integrations, releases, and modernization initiatives using Agile product practices.
  • Build enterprise partnerships: Partner with HR, Learning & Development, Quality, Compliance, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Technology leaders to define capabilities, resolve trade-offs, and accelerate adoption.
  • Influence without direct authority: Mobilize cross-functional squads, suppliers, and regional stakeholders across cultures and time zones; clearly communicate decisions, dependencies, risks, and outcomes to senior leaders.
  • Manage strategic suppliers: Govern the relationship with Cornerstone OnDemand and other partners, including service performance, contractual outcomes, release planning, issue escalation, and roadmap alignment.
  • Strengthen reliability and controls: Establish and monitor KPIs for availability, performance, adoption, experience, delivery, risk, and value; lead major-incident response, root-cause analysis, problem management, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain audit readiness: Ensure technical designs, mappings, architectural decisions, testing and validation evidence, monitoring, runbooks, and support procedures are complete, current, and inspection ready.
  • Embed compliance and security: Apply applicable GxP, privacy, cybersecurity, SOX, data-governance, change-management, segregation-of-duties, and least-privilege requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Advance responsible innovation: Identify, evaluate, and scale automation and AI-enabled capabilities that improve productivity, data quality, decision support, analytics, and employee experience.
  • Govern AI recommendations: Distinguish available product capabilities from roadmap concepts and experiments, and apply privacy, security, transparency, testing, appropriate data use, human oversight, and governance requirements.
  • Shape enterprise strategy: Bring external insights and thought leadership to influence learning technology standards, investment decisions, and the future evolution of the digital learning ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, human resources technology, or a related field.
  • 4 -7 years of relevant experience in enterprise technology, learning technologies, software engineering, or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and supporting enterprise Learning Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated success owning the strategy, roadmap, governance, and lifecycle of an enterprise-scale SaaS platform used by global stakeholder groups.
  • Strong experience with enterprise integrations and APIs, identity and access management, data and analytics, cloud technologies, release management, and production support.
  • Working knowledge of Agile product management and modern software delivery practices, including backlog prioritization, iterative delivery, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Experience operating technology products in a regulated environment and applying relevant quality, privacy, cybersecurity, risk-management, and audit controls.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical and business topics clearly, influence senior stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience with Cornerstone OnDemand, including governance, configuration, system integration, release management, vendor management, and process optimization.
  • Experience leading global learning technology or HR technology products at enterprise scale.
  • Experience applying GxP validation, GDPR, SOX, cybersecurity, and audit-readiness requirements to regulated platforms.
  • Experience evaluating or deploying AI-enabled capabilities, automation, analytics, or intelligent workflows with responsible-AI controls.
  • Experience developing business cases, managing product investments, and demonstrating value through measurable outcomes.

Leadership Competencies

  • Enterprise Mindset: Connects product decisions to workforce, business, risk, and technology priorities.
  • Strategic and technical leadership: Sets direction, makes sound trade-offs, and converts ambiguity into executable plans.
  • Influence and communication: Builds alignment across senior leaders, technical teams, business partners, and suppliers.
  • Customer focus: Uses employee and stakeholder insights to improve usability, adoption, and learning outcomes.
  • Accountability: Owns commitments, escalates risks early, and drives measurable results.
  • Innovation and learning agility: Applies emerging technologies pragmatically and continuously improves products, processes, and ways of working.

Scope & Impact

  • Owns the enterprise strategy and roadmap for J&J Learn, a global learning platform supporting workforce capability development.
  • Shapes investment priorities, architecture direction, governance standards, service expectations, and vendor roadmaps for the LMS ecosystem.
  • Leads complex, cross-functional initiatives across business, HR, quality, compliance, cybersecurity, and technology without direct reporting authority.
  • Balances innovation, employee experience, operational resilience, cost, and regulatory risk in high-impact product decisions.
  • Measures success through agreed outcomes such as platform availability and performance, roadmap delivery, adoption, stakeholder satisfaction, compliance health, risk reduction, operational efficiency, and value realization.
