AI in this role
Drive the development and roadmap of core healthcare data products and data architecture.
We Breathe Life Into Data
At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.
As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.
The Opportunity at Komodo Health:
The Data Product team develops and evolves the core data asset that powers Komodo Health’s platform: our Healthcare Map. As a member of the team, you’ll help us build a best-in-class data architecture by transforming complex healthcare data into scalable, high-quality products that deliver meaningful insights for our customers. Our people are the center of our success. We are a smart, supportive team with diverse perspectives and a shared passion for fixing what’s broken in healthcare. It’s fun, challenging, and important - and we’re looking for folks with a shared mindset to join our team.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Product Manager to help drive this development and innovation of our core data products, the foundation of Komodo Health's offerings.
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo, you will have…
- Developed real fluency in our data through a customer lens
- Led discovery into a set of customer use cases and built an evidence-based point of view on where Komodo is uniquely positioned to win
- Shipped marked improvements to one or more core data products
- Identified, scoped, and validated at least one new data product opportunity or significant enhancement to an existing product
- Built a prioritized, evidence-backed backlog that the team and stakeholders trust
- Earned trust as a thought partner to Data Engineering and the commercial-facing team
You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…
- Work with engineers to drive our product strategy and execution on Komodo’s growing suite of data products
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to help craft our technical strategy based on your deep understanding of our platform and customer needs
- Partner closely with our product principal and commercial teams to document use cases, create requirements, design evaluation criteria, and ensure on-time, high-value analysis
- Own the day-to-day responsibilities for sprint management and ensure that the team is operating at high levels of efficiency
- Ensure collaboration with teams throughout the organization, and will help to share knowledge throughout the company
What you bring to Komodo Health (required):
- 9+ years of experience in a data-focused product role at a healthtech/saas, or similar company
- Prior experience working with and translating US healthcare/medical/claims data into requirements for life science customers
- Real technical depth, including the ability to write and understand SQL, reason about data models and pipelines, and engage substantively with engineers on tradeoffs rather than relaying messages between them and the business
- Working knowledge of the core concepts behind statistical data analysis, and the judgment to notice when they are being misapplied
- Fluency with AI tools as part of how the work actually gets done, including exploring unfamiliar datasets, prototyping concepts, drafting and pressure-testing requirements, and challenging their own reasoning
Expectations of AI Use in this role (required):
- Ability to leverage AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) to enhance personal productivity, streamline workflows, and process large amounts of data
Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…
- Curiosity about how data and systems are built and where they break, paired with the drive to go find the answer and comfort in not knowing something for a while
- A bias toward the simple version, with the patience to sit with an ambiguous problem and ask the question that reframes it rather than shipping the first workable answer
- The ability to break a conceptual goal into smaller, actionable pieces, with enough attention to detail to define what "done" and "good" mean before work starts
