Job Title

Senior Forward Deployed UX Designer (Nashville, TN)

Job Description

As a Senior Forward Deployed UX Designer within the Azurion Eye program, you will work shoulder-to-shoulder with clinicians and engineers inside a partner hospital, leading the experience design of next-generation AI-enabled solutions for the Image Guided Therapy Systems (IGT-S) business unit. Embedded on-site in a small forward-deployed pod, you will translate real clinical workflows into adaptive, user intent-based experiences which can scale into Azurion Eye software solutions. At IGT, we are dedicated to supporting patients through innovative, minimally invasive procedures, helping them return to the lives they love.

What is the Azurion Eye program? It advances Philips’ strategy to embed AI into clinical workflows by combining clinical intelligence, computer vision, predictive analytics, and AI-powered orchestration. The platform helps clinicians make faster, better-informed decisions, improve procedural efficiency through intuitive tableside control, and enhance patient safety with precision imaging and reduced radiation exposure, including in-room 3D CT-like imaging for stroke care.

Embedded within a strategic US clinical partner hospital, you will help accelerate Philips’ AI-powered Cath Lab platform. You will be embedded on-site at a strategic partner hospital as the senior UX lead of a forward-deployed pod, with backbone support from the teams in Best (Netherlands) and Bangalore (India). Reporting to the Design Director IGT Systems, you will be part of a group of world-class designers from the Philips Experience Design community responsible for UX, product, and service experience design across IGT Systems’ product lines.

Travel will be required for work on-site at the partner hospital for the duration of engagements, with occasional travel to Best/Bangalore.

Your role:

  • Lead human-centered design efforts by immersing yourself in clinical environments to understand user needs, workflows, and challenges. Through research, observation, and collaboration, you will identify opportunities and translate insights into meaningful experiences that improve patient care and clinician efficiency.
  • Create and validate user-centered solutions in close partnership with clinicians, hospital IT teams, engineers, and product leaders. Working iteratively from concept through prototype, you will ensure solutions align with business objectives, scale across markets, and reflect Philips’ Design Language System and brand standards.
  • Help shape the future of intelligent healthcare experiences by defining how users interact with AI-powered systems and services. You will contribute to a collaborative design culture, mentor fellow designers, and guide the development of adaptive, clinically safe, and explainable AI experiences.

You are the right fit if:

  • You’ve acquired 7+ years of experience with Bachelor's OR Minimum 3 years of experience with Master's in areas such as User Experience (UX) Design, Information Architecture, User Research, Product Design, Usability Testing or equivalent. You will also have relevant professional experience, including leading design within multidisciplinary teams in the field.
  • Your skills include designing complex, AI-enabled solutions in regulated environments, ideally healthcare and the cath lab, with the ability to rapidly translate user insights into functional prototypes. You are comfortable working alongside engineers in Agile, Git-enabled environments and proficient with Figma, Microsoft Office, and AI-assisted design and productivity tools.
  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in (UX) Design, Design Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You’re an excellent communicator who works effectively across matrixed organizations, comfortable partnering closely with key stakeholders, product teams and AI Engineers, while applying and evolving a company’s Design System and Brand guidelines. You also have the willingness to work on-site at the partner hospitals, with occasional travel to Best/Bangalore.

How we work together

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This is an office role.
