Are you excited by the prospect of building something from the ground up? Amazon is launching a new Instock management function in Sydney, and we are looking for a self-starter who can shape the buying strategy and product flow for a fast-growing business. In this role, you will own end-to-end inventory strategy across multiple product categories, balancing high customer availability and optimal product quality against financial guardrails.

You will partner with Category, Vendor Management, Operations, Product, Finance, and Technology teams to solve complex supply chain problems and drive strategic initiatives. You will also help design and build internally developed tools across forecasting, buying, placement, and inventory health — creating the mechanisms that will underpin long-term growth. This position requires full-time in-office presence 5 days per week at our CBD location.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end instock strategy across multiple product categories, designing buying approaches and product-flow processes that deliver high availability and quality while meeting financial targets.
- Partner with Category, Vendor Management, Operations, Finance, Product, and Technology teams to identify root causes, influence priorities, and deliver cross-functional solutions that improve customer outcomes.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design and build internal tools for forecasting, buying, placement, and inventory health, translating business requirements into scalable, long-term solutions.
- Analyze inventory trends and demand signals to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and improve order-fulfillment efficiency across the network.
- Coach and develop team members, setting clear goals and building an inclusive culture that supports continuous learning and operational excellence.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing availability and inventory-health metrics, then shift into a working session with technology partners to refine requirements for a new forecasting tool. After lunch you could join a cross-functional review with Marketing and Category teams to align on an upcoming promotional plan. Later in the afternoon you may prepare a narrative for senior leadership that outlines a proposed buying-strategy change and its expected impact on quality and cost.

About the team
We are a newly formed team tasked with building Amazon's instock management capability in Australia. Our mission is to ensure customers can reliably find the products they want, at the quality they expect, while operating within sound financial guardrails. We work closely with Category, Vendor Management, Operations, Product, and Technology teams to solve supply chain challenges through data, automation, and creative problem-solving. Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience leading process improvement, systems development, and project management

Preferred qualifications

- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in building and developing a high performance cross functional project team
