About the Team: 

The Materials and NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) team plays a central role in enabling Terran R to fly, re-fly, and scale: developing, characterizing, and inspecting materials and processes across all parts of the vehicle. From welding and additive manufacturing to advanced composites, the team works at the intersection of innovation and execution, balancing performance and reliability with cost, quality, and schedule. As we move toward first flight and beyond, the challenges become more exciting, offering opportunities to shape how we design and develop for re-use. With ownership across products, systems, and disciplines, engineers gain broad exposure and drive key decisions across design, manufacturing, and operations.

About the Role:

• Act as primary point-of-contact for Immersion Ultrasonic Testing (IUT) technique development efforts and continuous improvement campaigns
• Work closely with other UT Specialists, UT Level 2 & 3 Inspectors and NDE Engineers to develop and execute feasibility studies, POD’s, and qualification plans
• Evaluation of acquired IUT data in accordance with specified acceptance criteria
• Engage in proactive mentorship and provide training and oversight for less experienced Inspectors
• Interface with internal and outside stakeholders regarding inspection results and process improvement opportunities
• Develop and publish part-specific IUT techniques for a variety of complex parts. Plan and program automated IUT inspections
• Work with vendors to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
• In depth comprehension and effective application of relevant NDE inspection plans, procedures, and techniques. 

About You:

• Current ASNT Level 3 certification in Ultrasonic Testing Level 3 certification in UT/PAUT/IUT per NAS 410, SNT-TC-1A or equivalent and documentation of same
• A minimum of 3 years acting in a Level 3 capacity for Immersion Ultrasonic Testing of aerospace propulsion part families in various materials and geometries
• Extensive (5+ years) verifiable experience as a UT Level 3 in an aerospace setting or equivalent highly regulated industry
• Experience contributing to system design and qualification efforts for aerospace customers (i.e. Boeing, Nasa, DoD, Space Force, etc)
• Deep knowledge and integrated relationships with immersion tank vendors, with knowledge of industry standards (NASA, AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM, etc.)
• Experience auditing 3rd Party NDE Vendors
• Strong working knowledge of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and familiarity with associated emerging reconstruction algorithms (FMC, TFM, PCI, PWI).
• Extensive and verifiable experience analyzing inspection data to specific acceptance criteria and experience reading and interpreting engineering work instructions and drawings
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. 

Nice to haves but not required:  

• BS or MS in a STEM field
• Experience with CAD
• Experience with QA/QC and/or Lean Manufacturing concepts and applications
