Job Purpose
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring and supporting the enterprise network infrastructure for the MGN Bangalore site, ensuring high availability, performance and security for onsite and remote users. The role covers network operations, incident resolution, proactive monitoring, reporting, compliance validation and close collaboration with the Group Network Team to maintain agreed service levels and uptime. The position also participates in troubleshooting, infrastructure maintenance, technology upgrades and weekend or public holiday support as per the operational roster.
Key Result Areas
Network Operations and Support
Manage and support LAN, WAN, wireless, internet and site connectivity for MGN Bangalore.
Provide end-to-end network support for onsite and remote users.
Ensure network availability and uptime in line with agreed SLAs.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify potential service issues.
Network Monitoring and Reporting
Prepare and publish daily network link utilisation reports.
Review network health, bandwidth consumption and capacity trends.
Monitor alerts from network management platforms and take corrective action.
Incident and Problem Management
Troubleshoot routing, switching, wireless and user connectivity issues.
Participate in major incident resolution, technical investigation and root cause analysis.
Coordinate with vendors, service providers and internal teams for timely resolution.
Document network incidents, resolutions and preventive actions for future reference.
Compliance and Security Operations
Validate CMDB records for all network infrastructure devices.
Perform ArcSight log validation for network devices and follow up on exceptions.
Ensure compliance with Information Security policies, audit requirements and applicable standards.
Support vulnerability remediation and network security initiatives.
Change, Project and Operational Support
Execute approved network changes in accordance with change management procedures.
Support network infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations and technology refresh initiatives.
Maintain network diagrams, inventory, configurations and operating procedures.
Participate in weekend, after-hours and public holiday support rotations as scheduled.
Work closely with the Group Network Team on troubleshooting, upgrades and operational improvements.
Operating Environment and Working Relationships
Responsible for network services supporting the MGN Bangalore site and remote users.
Collaborates with Group Network Services, Security Operations, Service Delivery, Infrastructure teams and business users.
Works with vendors, internet service providers and managed service partners for operations and escalations.
Enforces Information Security, risk, audit and regulatory requirements.
Supports business continuity and disaster recovery objectives for critical services.
Problem Solving and Decision-Making
Apply structured incident, problem and change management practices.
Analyse network performance, capacity and recurring service issues.
Respond to network incidents with urgency and determine appropriate remediation actions.
Escalate critical issues to management and the Group Network Team when required.
Recommend improvements that strengthen service availability, performance and operational controls.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience
Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure. Banking or financial services experience is preferred.
Mandatory Certification
CCNP Enterprise or an equivalent professional-level networking certification.
Preferred Certifications
Cisco specialist or CCIE certification, ITIL Foundation and relevant security or cloud certifications.
Core Networking
Strong hands-on knowledge of routing, switching, LAN, WAN, wireless, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, STP and QoS.
Routing and VPN
Practical experience with BGP, OSPF, IPsec VPN, GRE and first-hop redundancy technologies such as HSRP or VRRP.
Security
Knowledge of 802.1X, NAC, port security, ISE, ARP inspection and network security fundamentals.
Tools
Working experience with monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds or PRTG, CMDB systems, ArcSight and Wireshark.
Service Management
Sound understanding of ITIL processes for incident, problem and change management.
Documentation
Ability to maintain accurate diagrams, device inventories, reports, procedures and technical records.
Soft Skills and Personal Attributes
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical updates to management.
