Senior Product Designer, Comms Tech

Amazon is hiring a Senior Product Designer, Comms Tech in New York, United States. It pays $138k-$186k a year and Level rates it ; you can apply on Level.

AI in this role

We're looking for an ambitious Senior Product Designer to join the Communications Tech team that builds products to boost the productivity and efficiency of Amazon's global Communications organization. This role will have high impact, senior leadership visibility, several engineering teams to influence, and ownership over the end-to-end product design of tools communications professionals need to do their jobs.

A Designer with previous experience and interest in the media (social and traditional), communications, and public relations fields is a significant positive.

The Senior Product Designer role needs to be both capable and interested in being deeply in the weeds on product design, while also force-multiplying across dozens of colleagues. Amazon's Communications organization is primarily non-technical—the Designer needs to be comfortable with non-technical stakeholders, and obsessed with making complex, data-heavy products as simple as possible to use.

The ideal candidate can juggle competing priorities across projects and stakeholders without losing the thread of what’s best for the customer. They know how to present ideas professionally through a strategic and creative lens. They approach design through an AI-native mindset, actively integrating AI tools and capabilities into their research and delivery to move faster and raise the quality of their output.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. The Senior Product Designer will embed alongside engineering teams, conduct research, define interaction models, produce designs, and iterate based on how real users actually work.

Key job responsibilities
- Passionate about creating elegant, simple to understand designs.
- Lead design strategy and deliver solutions from concept through launch, using AI-assisted prototyping to compress the gap between idea and testable artifact.
- Partner deeply with engineering. Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible, production-ready, and aligned with underlying system architecture.
- Continuously adopt emerging AI capabilities into your design workflow to increase speed and quality of output.
- Influence product direction by identifying design opportunities, producing functional prototypes to validate assumptions, and shaping roadmaps with product and business leaders.
- Develop working prototypes to learn and fail fast.
- Partner with product and business teams to plan and balance immediate requirements with long-term, scalable solutions.
- Proactively manage your own work queue, time, and expectations. Meet deadlines and communicate needs and tradeoffs if your schedule is in jeopardy.

Basic qualifications

- 6+ years of design experience
- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax
- Experience prototyping with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Experience with data-heavy, consumer-facing products
- Experience creating visual assets related to social media
