Senior Systems Integration Engineer

Hardware Engineering is an innovative and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to Systems Integration Manager. 

You will:

• Drive end-to-end software, electrical, and mechanical integration and bring-up of novel autonomous vehicle platform architectures and critical sub-systems.
• Lead root-cause investigation and resolution of complex multidisciplinary (ME, EE, and SW) issues spanning autonomous systems and base vehicle chassis components.
• Define, own, and standardize requirements and interface definitions across subsystems while architecting rigorous validation experiments and test workstreams to de-risk key engineering challenges.
• Direct technical engagements and strategic alignment with key vendor and manufacturing partners to ensure robust system delivery and manufacturability.

You have:

• BS/MS in EE, ME, CE, CSE, or related technical field, or equivalent practical engineering experience with 8+ years of industry experience.  
• Proven track record of designing, deploying, and supporting complex, production-grade hardware and software systems in high-velocity tech environments.
• Broad and deep multidisciplinary expertise across electrical, mechanical, and software domains with demonstrated ability to quickly master emerging technical domains.
• Extensive hands-on experience architecting bring-up procedures, assembling prototypes, and debugging complex distributed electromechanical and compute systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with strong cross-functional communication skills, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive consensus and unblock critical technical blockers.
• Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language applied to system tooling, diagnostics, or automation.

We prefer:

• In-depth architectural understanding of autonomous vehicle systems, including sensor suites, compute platforms, power distribution, harness design, chassis communications (CAN/Ethernet), vehicle actuation, and drive-by-wire controls.
• Deep familiarity with modern automotive mechanical, electrical, and functional safety (ISO 26262) architectures and vehicle control systems.
• Advanced working proficiency with C/C++ and Python for test automation, diagnostic development, and system analysis.
• Mastery of laboratory diagnostics and prototyping equipment, including high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, DMMs, protocol analyzers, and specialized hand tools.

Travel requirements:

• ~10% travel to vendor and Waymo manufacturing and service facilities.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
