We own the content management and aggregation platform that powers Prime Video (PV) content discovery experiences on all PV supported devices worldwide. We are responsible for constructing a page, orchestrating carousels and titles on that page and serving it to hundreds of millions of PV customers. Our platform is at the core of the PV content discovery experience and is critical to the PV mission of “Show Every Customer the Right Content, in the Right Place, at the Right Time”.

We are the gateway for any PV content owner (e.g: Live Events) to push content to the different PV storefront pages. To be successful at our scale, we invest in long term platform capabilities and deal with exciting technical challenges on a daily basis. The complexity of the technical problems that we are solving creates great opportunities for engineers to meet their career goals and grow professionally.

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to help us drive product innovation in our onboarding customer experience and raise the bar on operational excellence for our Tier-1 filtering service. You will work on high-scale, low-latency distributed systems that directly shape what hundreds of millions of customers see when they open Prime Video, while also building customer-facing features that make first impressions count for new viewers. You will have the opportunity to experiment with and champion AI-powered development tools and workflows to accelerate how we build, test, and operate software. Our team's mission is to empower Amazonians in delivering Earth's most customer-centric video experience and increasing customer engagement by building products that automate all storefront merchandising and scale Prime Video’s service expansion. We own high performance, low-latency and highly available services and a rule engine built on a graph-based data model that composes every storefront page on every supported PV device worldwide. The team is seeking a talented and passionate Software Development Engineer to join our team. A successful candidate will have a strong technical ability, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, great analytical reasoning skills, and, of course, a passion for TV and movies.

A day in the life
You will be building our best-in-class content aggregation platform while solving challenging technical problems. You will contribute to the PV storefront architecture. You will build platform capabilities and long term solutions that will need to perform at scale. We are at the epicenter of the storefront generation and hence you will have an opportunity to collaborate with many other PV teams and influence the PV technical ecosystem.

About the team
Our mission is building a highly-available, scalable and low-maintenance Content Aggregation Platform for carousels and titles that delivers the best content and high quality experience to PV customers. It’s the only platform that delivers all carousels and titles to the storefront. The platform provides customers with the best-in-class content discovery experience. We own strongly-typed orchestration contracts and a rule engine that enables all PV content owners to onboard frictionlessly, fast storefront experimentation and content delivery to the end-customers.

Basic qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
