Key job responsibilities
* Design, develop, and operate secure connectivity solutions for a globally deployed fleet of endpoint devices, reason about network security, device trust, and blast-radius before writing code
* Build and maintain systems that manage website/resource allowlisting, VPN connectivity, and network policy enforcement at scale
* Treat operations as core engineering, own the systems you build end-to-end, participate in on-call rotations and incident response, and drive improvements that increase reliability and reduce toil
* Partner with security, networking, and device teams to deliver defense-in-depth solutions that protect customer data across diverse network environments
* Use AI coding assistants and GenAI tools effectively across the software development lifecycle from design through testing and operations, applying engineering judgment to validate output against Amazon's security and correctness bar
* Write robust, efficient, and maintainable code
* Continually challenge existing approaches and explore what should change to better serve associates and protect customers
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer, you influence the future for the components and systems you build from inception to execution. You design, plan, engineer, test, release, and support critical software systems. You leverage novel technologies to construct accessible tools that secure our devices from malware, and communications from malicious eavesdroppers. The tools you develop will empower people with disabilities to use our services seamlessly and will help make Amazon a diverse workplace. The Secure Endpoint Connectivity team's mission is to protect Amazon's customers and their trust in the Amazon brand. Through deployment of secure devices, we enable Amazon business groups that handle critical customer data to safely experiment and innovate. We continuously evolve to combat new risks to customer data.

Basic qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
