Own program strategy for detection and prevention controls that safeguard AWS cloud resources at massive scale.

Do you want to help keep every AWS service, and the millions of customers who trust them, secure at a scale almost no other team operates at? AWS Proactive Security is looking for a Technical Program Manager who is energized by security problems measured in the billions of resources. The Secure Foundations organization within Proactive Security raises the AWS security bar by eliminating entire classes of security issues, not one bug at a time. We find the most impactful risks across AWS's largest distributed systems and build automation that detects and prevents them continuously, so AWS services launch and operate securely by default. It's a mandate that touches every builder at AWS.

As a TPM on this team, you'll own the program strategy for detection and prevention controls that safeguard AWS. You'll turn ambiguous, high-stakes security goals into cross-organizational programs and drive them from concept to launch, partnering with engineering, product, and security leaders across many teams. You'll help AWS Security adopt new automated analysis techniques to stay ahead of a rapidly expanding surface, and you'll make the hard prioritization calls on where our detection investments deliver the most risk reduction. This is a role for someone who likes the puzzle as much as the impact: reasoning about scale, influencing without authority, and shipping mechanisms that quietly protect all of AWS.

Your work will directly impact every developer at AWS and help preserve the trust customers place in the cloud.

Key job responsibilities
In this role you will be the single threaded leader owning programs to deliver complex projects across multiple Director/VP organizations. This includes identifying business and technical requirements, writing specifications, and aligning stakeholders.

You will own cross-organizational programs end-to-end, from requirements through delivery, working with engineering, product, and security teams to ship security controls to internal AWS teams.

You will establish mechanisms for tracking program health, adoption, and outcomes. Use data to inform prioritization and communicate progress to leadership.

You will develop trusted partnerships with technical and non-technical teams across AWS businesses, ensuring security controls reflect the needs of diverse builders and do not impact innovation.

You will evaluate complex technical and business requirements, surface tradeoffs and risks early, and drive decisions that balance security rigor with builder velocity.

A day in the life
You will work directly with multiple security teams across Amazon Security, as well as directly with AWS service teams.
