The Position

As a Technical Product Owner within the Digital Workplace Productivity Engineering Team, part of the Digital Workplace organization in Roche Digital Technology, you will join a team of technology experts responsible for engineering and continuously improving the digital productivity experience for more than 150,000 users.

Our mission is to enable employees to communicate, collaborate and work more effectively, leveraging Microsoft 365 technologies and emerging AI capabilities to create an integrated, intuitive and modern digital workplace experience.

A key focus of the team is Microsoft Teams as a central collaboration and productivity hub, connecting communication, meetings, information, applications, workflows and AI-enabled experiences. The team also supports the evolution of productivity capabilities around communication, email and calendaring as part of the overall employee experience.

This is a Product Owner role with a high degree of technical depth, combining end-to-end product accountability with strong Microsoft 365 engineering expertise. You will own product priorities and backlog while working closely with stakeholders, architects and engineers on product direction, solution design, technical decisions and delivery.

You will translate employee needs, business priorities and technology opportunities into clear product outcomes and actionable engineering work. Your technical expertise will enable you to understand architectural implications and dependencies, challenge requirements and proposed solutions, and make informed trade-offs across employee value, technical feasibility, security, sustainability, risk and delivery effort.

Artificial Intelligence is an increasingly important part of the Digital Workplace. You will help shape and evaluate AI-enabled productivity experiences, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and emerging AI capabilities, identifying opportunities where AI, collaboration and automation can meaningfully improve how employees work.

The ideal candidate combines strong Product Ownership capabilities, deep Microsoft 365 technical expertise, an employee-experience mindset and knowledge of AI-enabled productivity, with the ability to move effectively between product priorities, stakeholder discussions and technical decision-making.

Responsibilities

As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will:

• Take end-to-end Product Ownership responsibility for assigned Digital Workplace Productivity capabilities, defining priorities and desired outcomes in alignment with the broader Digital Workplace strategy.
• Own, prioritize and continuously refine the product backlog, ensuring alignment with product strategy, roadmap, employee value, technical needs, dependencies, risks and engineering capacity.
• Translate employee needs, business requirements and technology opportunities into clear epics, features and actionable user stories, with well-defined outcomes and acceptance criteria.
• Shape product priorities and roadmap with stakeholders, architects, engineers and partner teams, making informed trade-offs across value, technical feasibility, architecture, dependencies, risk and delivery effort.
• Apply strong Microsoft 365 technical expertise to guide product and solution decisions, challenge assumptions, understand architectural implications and help ensure solutions are scalable, secure and sustainable.
• Guide the evolution of Microsoft Teams and related Microsoft 365 productivity capabilities across collaboration, communication, meetings, email, calendaring and integrated employee experiences.
• Maintain a deep understanding of the broader Microsoft 365 architecture, components and service dependencies, collaborating across organizational and technology boundaries to address complex cross-service scenarios.
• Evaluate Microsoft 365 roadmap changes and emerging technologies through technical impact assessments, proofs of concept, testing and pilots, supporting controlled and sustainable enterprise adoption.
• Explore and evaluate AI-enabled productivity solutions, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and emerging AI capabilities, identifying valuable use cases while considering information access, identity, permissions, security, privacy, governance and responsible use of AI.
• Identify opportunities to combine collaboration, automation and AI to simplify employee workflows, reduce repetitive activities and improve access to information.
• Define and evaluate product outcomes and success measures, using employee feedback, adoption, usage and service insights to continuously improve product value, service quality and employee experience.
• Maintain visibility of priorities, progress, dependencies and risks, collaborating across product, engineering and service teams and contributing technical expertise to solution validation, troubleshooting and complex incidents or technical challenges when needed.

Experience and Technical Skills

• Deep knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and architecture, particularly its productivity, communication and collaboration capabilities and their dependencies.
• Strong hands-on technical experience with Microsoft Teams and enterprise collaboration technologies, including collaboration, meetings, communication, policies and integrated productivity scenarios.
• Strong understanding of enterprise messaging, Outlook and calendaring concepts and their role within the broader employee productivity experience.
• Good understanding of the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including collaboration, content, identity, permissions, information access, security and service dependencies.
• Experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner or equivalent role, ideally for enterprise technology products, platforms or capabilities.
• Practical experience with Product Ownership and Agile delivery, including backlog ownership, prioritization, roadmap alignment, requirements refinement, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Proven ability to translate complex employee, business and technology needs into clear product requirements, priorities and actionable engineering outcomes.
• Understanding of security, privacy, compliance and information-governance principles and how they influence enterprise productivity and AI-enabled solutions.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities, including the ability to understand complex cross-service technical and architectural dependencies and contribute effectively to complex issues and escalations.
• Understanding of Microsoft 365 service lifecycle management, including roadmap evaluation, technical impact assessment, testing, pilots and enterprise adoption.
• Strong understanding of AI-enabled productivity, particularly Microsoft 365 Copilot, including how enterprise information, identity, permissions, security, privacy and governance influence AI experiences.
• Experience with automation or scripting technologies is desirable, while experience with AI technologies, intelligent workplace solutions or conversational experiences is highly desirable.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications and demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 technologies are desirable.

Preferred Experience

• Significant experience with Microsoft 365 technologies in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Experience acting as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner or equivalent for enterprise technology products or capabilities.
• Experience working at the intersection of product ownership and engineering, combining product accountability with strong technical expertise.
• Experience designing or evolving solutions that improve digital collaboration and employee productivity.
• Experience working in complex environments with dependencies across multiple technologies, products, engineering teams and service owners.
• Experience evaluating and introducing new cloud or AI-enabled productivity capabilities through structured assessment, experimentation and adoption.
