The VP, Marketing is responsible for all downstream marketing and commercialization strategies for existing and new Shockwave Medical IVL products, thereby ensuring continued high growth of Shockwave as a leader in the cardiovascular MedTech space. The position will report into the VP, Global Sales and Marketing and work closely with the President, senior staff, key opinion leaders and marketing team.
This is a remote role available in all states within the U.S. While specific cities are listed in the Locations section for reference, please note that they are examples only and do not limit your application. We invite candidates from any location to apply.
Essential Job Functions
The VP, Marketing is accountable for leadership and oversight in these areas:
o Product Marketing: develop essential value proposition, product positioning, messaging for IVL products and oversee development of marketing campaigns and essential collateral.
o Product Launches: responsible for go-to-market strategies for new IVL products, which in addition to above, include pricing, inventory planning, account targeting and segmentation and sales support.
o Brand Strategy: oversee development and enhancement of corporate and product visual identity and brand voice. Select and optimally manage communications all channels in print, digital and social media.
o Marketing Operations: oversee medical conference strategy and investments in associated assets. Oversee planning and execution of global and national commercial team meetings and events.
o Product Development Portfolio & Strategy: provide input into product development programs, especially for core IVL markets, which may include acting as executive sponsor for various PDP programs. market and opportunity assessments, market research and physician feedback, design input for new products, active participation in product development team(s) and portfolio prioritization and planning.
o Communications & PR: Oversee internal communications and public relations functions, managing direct team and consultants as needed.
- Provide critical input into IVL-related evidence strategy, including publications and podium planning, and investigator-initiated research grants.
- Provide key strategic direction to scientific communications.
- Ensure performance and development of multiple teams, in addition to marketing functional excellence, and growth and retention of key talent.
- Partner closely with marketing leadership, US and EU sales, cross-functional colleagues (including clinical, manufacturing, R&D, regulatory and finance), senior management and key physicians.
- Monitor market trends including competition, procedural/market growth, reimbursement, and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of experience in a leadership role in medical device environment.
- BA or equivalent experience is required. MBA or advanced degree is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of business finances, strategic planning, strategic marketing and sales, product development, operations and logistics.
- Understanding and awareness of healthcare market and competitive environment.
- Understanding of working in worldwide regulated environment
- Experience with balloon catheter platforms used for cardiologists, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons is preferred.
- Medical device experience in the vascular space is preferred.
- Understanding of PR, IR and social media marketing and advertising channels is preferred.
- Proven ability to design, build and manage excellent performance out of a team including goal setting, feedback, career development, and performance management.
- Strong relationship management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment, with its fast pace and continual change.
- Operate independently and adaptability to changing requirements.
- Experience partnering in M&A or acquisition.
- Experience in both start-up environments and large company preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple competing priorities
- Ability to travel up to 30% as required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$228,000.00 - $422,050.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
